PFFT. Bruce's cryptid status definitely does grow. And everyone is wildly off with their guesses. There were bets placed and everything.
Pfft, Clark is about to pass out from stress when he sees one of the other Gotham vigilantes try to reach around Batman to steal some food. And Bruce holds it out of reach at first, so he thinks that the kid can’t have it- which makes sense! Deadly! Poison! That no one should be eating! Even the others in the cafeteria look slightly amused!
And then Batman pulls the manners card and the other vigilante pouts and grumbles and groans and then in the sassiest voice- let’s be honest it’s a Robin’s job to sass Bruce- “May I please have some parental figure who I love?”
Everyone freaks out.
It'd be hilarious if this is how they (the JL) find out about the Gotham vigilantes being family lol. Like, the kids definitely said to their teams that Batman was their dad, but it was like, with the Gotham way of obvious that it sounds like sarcasm.
You're so right, there definitely is stuff for people adjusting. And non-poisoned stuff in the touristy areas. Mostly. Sometimes there's people who get poisoned on purpose if they don't like them lol. Gotham might be a hellhole to Outsiders, but you treat staff right and you won't get murdered.
Randomly just had the idea of a raincoat mermaid tail dress slam into me and I have no clue how that would work lol.
PFFT, imagine having monitor or late night duty with Batman before people knew the Poison fridge was for him. And no one believes you for weeks until he happens to grab his lunch around the time other people were there and witnessed it.
Oh my god, I bet hunting/swimming trips in Gotham are seen as like, not exactly traditional dates, but pretty up there. Though they're very careful not to overhunt and they probably have several fish farms they constantly release fish from.
The kids definitely use swimming excursions to scare passing Atlanteans lol. Gotham Academy has a scoreboard for each class that the kids made and it's far from the only one. The atlanteans have no clue that they are simply scaring them for fun, because those waters are Terrifying and the things in there scream Predator and Uncanny Valley Body Horror to the instinctive part of their brains lol.
You're right Gothamites have stupid poison resistance & the rogues complain about it- Oh my god. Arkham. Do you think they have small pools like, in the cells? Like if someone behaves they get a room with a small floor pool so they can swim or just chill in aquatic form. (I'd say if they're behaving because Big Teeth & Claws that can definitely tear through a person)
Mermay Special Prompt 3
“Are you kidding? No one goes to Gotham, that place is like,” Aquaman made a motion with his hand, a not-quite grimace on his face. “Like things should not be living in the water, like it should be impossible, and things should be dead, but they aren’t and it’s like, like the equivalent of an undead apocalypse over there!”
Bruce rolled his eyes behind his cowl, taking a sip of his coffee as the others continued drinking. Socialize, they said, it’ll be fine they said. Well excuse him, but the waters weren’t that bad. Sure there were always dumped bodies, and chemicals from the rogue attacks, but it was far worse at one point.
One thing he’ll always be relieved for is how the… curse (thank you broken statuette back in the beginning of his vigilante career that fused with the other many curses of Gotham) made the people of Gotham actually care about the waters around them.
Though also, he couldn’t help but thank anything that might be listening for the fact that the curse only interacted with Gotham waters, because losing legs with any risk of a drop of water would be downright annoying.
“No dude, you don’t understand, no one goes there for a reason! That shit is horrific- someone saw a big thing with bits of rebar stabbed straight through it and still chased after a big alligator-thing!” Oh. Oh that had been him. Oops. Hopefully his kids didn’t find out about this, but they were probably already on the cameras. Dammnit.
#*wheeze* h20 au#long post#cryptid batfam#Does Selina x Bruce x Talia have a ship name?#I need you to know I am imagining Battinson-esque Bruce but like slightly older & longer haired lol#You know what I bet Bruce has a crab nacho snack at some point while on monitor duty#Pfft the kids all crowding around Bruce despite the fact they have their own food and chirping like baby birds lmao#So there's canonical comic panels of Bruce attempting to bite Clark (invulnerable kryptonian) right#But he's also cursed in this- and kryptonians are not invulnerable to magic So-#Could he in fact bite a kryptonian- & if he can would it only be in aquatic or partial aquatic form or could he do it all the time#Could all of Gotham defeat kryptonians by mauling them lol#Damian definitely tried to push himself too hard the first few months he was in Gotham#There was a tiny bit of an intervention lol#OH MY GOD- imagine if Bruce has to take lil baby Helena to the Watchtower at some point because something came up#Batman with tiny baby in a onesie of a gargoyle & a diaper bag with cats & snakes & bats patterned on it for a meeting

An excerpt of morally-ambiguous-dad!Lex for @robotogato to hopefully enjoy, haha.
"Clones really don't get soulmarks, though," Kon says in frustration. "It doesn't even make sense that I'd have one."
"Well, I suppose there's the possibility that I just want you so badly that it happened anyway," Lex Luthor muses idly. "A Luthor doesn't generally accept being denied what they want."
"Very fucking funny," Kon mutters, shooting him a glower. "I'm being serious here, asshole."
"Hm," Lex Luthor observes, inspecting him neutrally. "Not even a moment where you let yourself want to believe that, was there."
"Why would I wanna believe that a bastard like you wanted me?" Kon sneers at him.
"Because I am the only person in the multiverse who would burn down reality for you without hesitation," Lex Luthor says like he's talking about the weather or something. Like he's just stating a totally inconsequential fact or reiterating something as obvious as the sky being blue.
Like there's no question there at all.
"I hope you fucking die and I hope it fucking hurts," Kon hisses as the whole world seems to bleed red, just about choking on his fury.
"Well, it will if you don't close your eyes," Lex Luthor says, raising an eyebrow at him. "Quickly, ideally."
"Wh–" Kon is almost stupid enough to ask, and then he realizes and immediately screws his eyes shut, snapping his hands up over his face just in case.
His eye sockets feel like they're on fire.
"Ah, I suppose I live another day," Lex Luthor says. "Rage and anger are notable triggers for the heat vision, if you're still unfamiliar. And apparently arousal as well, although I have very definitely never encountered that version so I can't say if it's more or less potent than rage."
"How do you even know about it, then?" Kon asks, hating that he can't trust himself to look at the bastard without killing him. Lex Luthor could be doing any stupid fucked-up thing right now and he'd have no fucking clue.
"I am a very intelligent person who can afford very good information," Lex Luthor says. "And I am also more intimately familiar with Kryptonian DNA than quite possibly anyone else on this planet, Superman included."
"Superman has Kryptonian DNA," Kon retorts dubiously.
"He does," Lex Luthor agrees. "His special little gift from dumb luck and blind chance. Some of us actually had to put in a bit of effort to get that kind of power, though."
"You don't have that kind of power," Kon says. "You have money and the fucking bullshit fear that you put into people."
"Ah, but I have you now," Lex Luthor counters mildly. "Now don't I."
"You don't," Kon snaps.
"Oh, give it sixteen years or so," Lex Luthor says, making a dismissive gesture as Kon's eyes finally stop burning long enough for him to risk a glare at him. "Your full powerset should be in by then, and I imagine I'll have had a bit of time to change your mind somewhere in there."
"I don't care what whatever custody law bullshit says about it, I'm not gonna stay with you," Kon says tightly. "Sure as shit not for the next sixteen years!"
"Oh?" Lex Luthor asks, raising an eyebrow at him. "Then where exactly are you intending to go long-term? Just planning to stay in a lab for the rest of your life?"
"Why the fuck not?" Kon says in exasperation.
Lex Luthor's eyes narrow.
"Oh," he says like a realization. "Someone's actually made you assume that you belong in a lab, haven't they."
"Yeah, I can't think of a single unrepentant bastard who might've had a hand in me belonging in one of those," Kon bites off darkly. "Real fucking mystery there, huh."
"Hm," Lex Luthor says.

Eyes on Him - Supergirl x Male Reader
Warnings: - Smut 💕(Flying Sex Missionary and Bareback
18+
Kara had sat by herself, not being able to keep her eyes off of the young man that had just recently appeared to join up with a few members of the Justice League on some form of mission that required his help who was someone who had dealt with these specific alien runes and magic which was called Soulfire, which can be deadly even toward Kryptonians due to their vulnerability to magic.
The young man she couldn't keep her eyes off of was Y/N, a Scholar and Magic wielder, some called him a Space Gunslinger which was what he is. He is a human from Earth, but has travelled to different Earths which was an accident at that time, confirming his theories about the Multiverse, a story for another time.
For weeks they had been working together to solve this issue, recent hostile alien activity had been making it's way toward Earth from the Moon, exactly which Y/N predicted, but how? Teleportation? Their answers would be solved upon discovering a portal on the Moon, which led to their pocket dimension.
However, she daydreamed as he kept rambling on about the magic and the runes, even speaking about his own run-ins with these aliens, a 'pain in the neck' he would call them.
Kara sighs with happiness, watching him as she began to fantasize about him, there was times where he caught Kara staring at him which he would wave a 'hello', she would always look away straight away, trying to hide her face which would be a blushing mess, she would wave back of course.
This was Supergirl, the toughest girl on Planet Earth, the Maiden of Might, the Girl of Steel. And this young man her age is the only thing right now that is weakening her, she was impressed of how a good fighter he was.
Sure she's had a few run-ins with certain individuals who she could've been with and even went on a date with Robin aka Dick Richard Grayson... Which didn't really go well, he went out as Robin for the date which Kara didn't exactly approve of. But for the first time in a while? Now at 20 years old, her heart is drawn toward him, and only him.
For you: You saw Kara as this ball of fluff, a genuine fun and caring person to be around, she's pretty protective of her friends and teammates, you saw that at that moment when one of them were injured during a fight, she went over immediately to protect him from the threat. She was a lot like her cousin in a way, protective and caring for their friends, family and compatriots. That's what you liked in her, her willpower to protect her loved ones without fear, she was smart and beautiful to you. And at times... Just the unsuspecting cute girl who stares at you without you looking, you found it amusing, adorable as well.
But she thought of you as eye candy, just someone to stare at and dream about, even if it brought up kinks of hers, kinks that would make her body squirm with excitement and pleasure, where she would moan your name during her private time away from people... She couldn't help it.
She even had that thought right now since she couldn't keep her eyes off of you, she bites her top lip as the thought kept rolling back in her head, of feeling your body on hers, her daydreams becoming more pleasuring and fantasized, the fact she wanted to feel him inside her when she flies in the sky, the thought of her being dominated by him on the bed after having sex in the sky... It turned her on at every moment when she could think.
"Well... I think it's time for me to run off into the night, since the situation has been resolved, G'night gents... And ladies" the emphasis on ladies landed on Kara's mind as he looked at her, catching her staring at him again which he smiled at her for it, even gave her a wink.
Kara immediately flushed a bright red across her cheeks and tried looking away... But she couldn't, she embarrassingly waved at him as he waved back with a smile on his face. Taking his leave out to the corridor of the Hall of Justice.
Then it hit her... He was leaving...
"HE CAN'T LEAVE YET!" Is what Kara thought in her head.
She immediately got up and zoomed off, the remaining members wondered why Kara rushed off but shrugged it off not a moment later.
Y/N kept walking down the hallway, heading for the exit. He quietly hummed a song to himself... Rock Lobster, which was annoyingly catchy tune...
"Curse that annoyingly catchy tune" he cursed at himself, seeing the exit not far now, he couldn't shake the song out of his head since he had heard it earlier. He has forgotten how annoyingly catchy songs can get, especially songs like Hollaback Girl, sure that wouldn't bother him at first... But now he hates it. It's all stuck in his head.
Suddenly... A gush of wind rushed passed him in a form or a red and blue blur with blonde/golden accents, which caught him off guard as his hand itched for his gun out of instinct.
But what came after... Was Supergirl, waiting at the door out of the Hall of Justice. Her arms crossed as she smiles at him from across the hall. He assumed that was her who zoomed past him... But for what? To talk? Or something else? But her action managed to drive away the annoying songs repeating in his head which he silently thanked her.
She watched as he slowly made his way over, she couldn't keep his eyes off of him with a hungry look behind her own thoughts, the need to have him to herself. Her kinks were overwhelming her but she held it together... Just for this moment at least.
"Going somewhere?" she asked him with a hinting smirk, she had her back leaning off against the wall behind her as he finally approached fully, smiling at her too.
"Yeah, heading out, assuming you heard me with your super hearing" he winked with a teasing smile, one where it would make her blush uncontrollably which it did.
She giggled nervously, uncrossing her arms as she begins feeling her heart pounding faster at every moment, pushing a strand of blonde hair out of the way on her face. She's only had little interaction with him outside of combat but during it is when she's a different person overall... And he knew that. It's what drew him toward her a little... Along with her cuteness when everything calms down. And no threats around them.
"Y-Yeah" she spoke after a few seconds, not even trying to hide her blush anymore.
"Haha... You seem pretty interested in me from what I've seen, Y'know? ~" he got closer to her, putting his hand on the wall beside her as he leaned in - "You had your eyes on me every moment you could, which makes me think..." he took a pause for a moment to let it sink into Kara's mind - "That you've been thinking about me" he leaned back from her ear, a teasing smirk at the corners of his mouth.
Kara was breath-taken by his words, she had a feeling he'd known but mentioning it simply made her blush more furiously, she began chuckling and playing with her hair as her dirty thoughts began running amuck in her mind.
She bit her lip in response as she smirks before licking her lips as she looks at him in the eyes - "Well... It's hard not to when you catch my attention all the time" she awkwardly spoke, she didn't exactly know what to say in particular, she felt all flustered around him, her dirty thoughts and kinks didn't help her either as she nervously chuckles...
She really wanted to make a move on him... It was so easy, she begged herself to pull him into a fiery kiss... But she couldn't... Not yet at least... She wanted to wait it out.
Y/N began chuckling at her shy actions, he wasn't wrong about her being cute, he's heard stories about the almighty Supergirl, the toughest girl on planet Earth, he's heard about her from her cousin when he had a few run-ins with him. He found it adorable the way she was flustered around him, he knew for a fact she was when she'd look away when he noticed her staring at him.
However, he was impressed with her abilities, her courage and strength. Fair to say he thought of having Kara on his team that patrols the Galaxy and the planets, even Earth... His home as well as it's Kara's adopted world too.
He actually admires her too, she's amazing in every way he thought, thinking back to where she's saved his back a few times from unsuspecting enemies... Maybe he could use an extra pair of hands on his expeditions at one point.
"Sorry if I'm being awkward or anything, it's just that... I've never felt this way around a boy in... Well... A while I guess" she spoke after some seconds went by, being able to look back at him again.
"No need to apologize, I do admit my... Charm can be overwhelming for some woman" he joked with a laugh afterwards, getting her to laugh with him.
The laughing dies down a few seconds later again, the two staring at each other as a smile reaches their faces.
"Y'know? You're actually pretty attractive up close ~" Y/N stutters a little, he felt his face heat up as hers did the same - "Wanna go out for dinner? I know a place down in San Francisco" he asked her which caused her to widen her eyes in shock, before the flush of red grew brighter on her face, a smile creeping up not long after.
"I... Uh, yeah... Yeah! That sounds great but... The last time I ever went on a dinner date... It didn't exactly... Go well" she looked away for a moment, scrunching her face up upon thinking back to her date with Robin at the time before giggling.
"Oh? That date? ~" he snickered - "the one with the Boy Wonder? Yeah... Heard that went horrible, but don't worry, nothing like that'll happen... We can go as civilians" he offered, which was a surprise to her... He really is willing to go out to dinner with her.
"Y-yeah! That sounds nice, however. I was thinking of... Something else to do" she hinted with a smirk, her hand drifting up his clothed body as she stares hungrily in his eyes, her slow blinking hinted toward how she was feeling.
"Oh? Well... What else would you want to do? Think it can top the dinner date?" he smirked with her as he leaned in a little, he had her at the wall still as Kara's cheeks flushed a bright red again.
She felt her body on fire at this point, his face was close to hers. Kiss him Kara! Do it! She shouted at her self in her mind.
"I know you've been thinking hard about me Supergirl, it's no wonder you've been so flustered around me" he teased her next, causing Kara to blush even harder at this point. Calling her by her Superhero name began to turn her on, she loved the fact he called her by Supergirl instead of her actual name in private.
She felt her desires kicking in, her kinks, her dirty thoughts of wanting him to herself... He drove her crazy when she thought about him, pleasuring herself to feel something... But she wanted it to feel... Breathtaking.
With the hungry look of lust in her eyes, she looked at him with a different perspective - "Well... I want you for starters" she smirked with seduction in her voice, the moment turning her on even more.
He kept his smirk as he leaned in closer to her, their lips almost touching at this point - "Ha, you flatter me. I've always wondered how Supergirl would be in bed" she was surprised he said that, he also had dirty thoughts of his own, maybe his own kinks too?
Her hungry intent went into overdrive before she closed the gap between them, firing up a fiery kiss as she felt him pin him on the wall behind her, their lips beginning to dance into each other as smacking noises sounded off from their lips.
Their tongues began to dance into each others mouths performing a French Kiss, fighting for tongue dominance, the latter being turned on further as it continued. Kara moaned into the fiery kiss she pulled him into, there was no going back. She was going to put in all her best to show her feelings toward him.
Her hands freely roamed his clothed body, slowly drifting down below his waist, she was dying to have his member inside her.
His hands however, were on her hips, holding her there as he had her pinned on the wall, it was a moment soon that he began to get turned on by the fiery kiss which the Kryptonian girl started.
"I've been in relationships before, passed many eyes... But it seems yours is what I got lost into" he pulled back slightly to breathe, speaking out with words that sounded like a confession. He had to admit that Kara's blue angelic eyes is what also interested him... She was like an angel toward him.
Supergirl smiled hard at his words, before pecking him on the lips - "I'm not going to lie, but you turn me on when I think about you" the Maiden of Might confessed, she wasn't wrong... She's pleasured herself on many occasions she could when alone. Having him on her mind was pleasant which made her wetter by the second.
"Well, my charm can do that to beautiful looking women, I'm happy you're one of those women" he flirted, causing her to smile hard as she holds his hand next after he explored enough of her model of a body.
"Ever tried the Mile High Club?" she asked him with a smirk, the question seemed to make him erect upon thinking about it.
"Ask Starfire, she'll tell you all about it, guessing that's a kink of yours too right?" he responded with a smirk also, knowing where this was going.
"Well... Let's fly" she says with lust, he leans off from her before being dragged to the doors by her leading him outside, where her hair, cape and skirt would billow softly in the calm wind.
His arms would wrap around her as she began to fly them up, up and away into the sky, her cape, skirt and hair billowing even more as she flew him up higher out of sight of anyone, above the clouds where the fun would begin.
"Think you can handle me? I am Kryptonian, don't wanna crush your pelvis or your penis for the matter" she asked him with a smirk
Supergirl reaches down under her skirt and pulls at the under shorts she wore where it covered her clit, sliding them down as she bites her lip.
"Won't need these anymore, got plenty spare at home" she giggles excitedly, winking at him as she dropped them, the wind carelessly blowing them away as he watched it drift out of view. For some reason? He just hoped it didn't randomly land on a person's head below...
It didn't take long for her to move onto him next, slightly pulling his pants down to whip out his manhood next which she already knew was erect before she took him outside.
She smirked at this, didn't seem like she needed to lube it or anything, not with her being wet of course... She simply guided it into her as she felt the tip hovering over her clit.
"Ohhh fuck!" she moaned softly as it fully entered, she slightly squirms freely thanks to him holding onto her, he can't fly and bend the laws of gravity but she can.
He began thrusting up into her with his hips at a steady pace, slowly moving in and out of her as she moans softly when each thrust went in her.
"You're a virgin right?" he groans slightly, he should've asked earlier but he didn't. His question answered with a hum detailing a yes. He was surprised she wanted to do the Mile High Club for her first time, but... He smirked at the thought of taking her virginity... It wasn't the first time he's took a woman's virginity away.
His thrusts begin to pick up the pace a little as his cock slipped in and out more easier with Kara's pussy lubing his cock up with how wet she was.
"Oh fuck yes! Mmmm, never felt one in me before but it feels so good!" she opened her eyes before locking eye contact with his, Kara leaned back freely in the air as he leaned on top of her like he was on top of a woman in bed, only the bed is in the sky this time.
She kept herself steady within the sky, her cape and hair hanging downwards as she does. She felt his thighs hit hers gently with the slow pace he went with as he goes in for a fiery kiss, his hands freely exploring her back, feeling a little bit of her cape as well.
The both moan and groan into each others lips, feeling the sexual pleasure building up between them as he thrusts into her with more force, causing her to moan out his name with lust, he felt his cock go deeper in her once the hymen was broken a little further. Allowing him to thrust a little more deeper.
She moans his name once more as the latter begins kissing the crook of her neck, feeling his hot breath on hers. She for one hasn't felt this sexual pleasure before, she always wanted to know how it really felt.
"Mmmm Y/N" she groans softly, feeling his lips on her neck as he slowly thrusts in her, the calming winds blowing her hair and cape side to side as it blew on their semi naked bodies.
Her arms wrap around him next, kneading her nails on his back as he moves his hips to thrust into her a little more faster than before.
He stops kissing her neck and goes for her lips, beginning to make out with her to muffle her moans as he began picking up the paste with his thrusts, he wanted to give her a good time for her first sexual interaction. After all... She had Eyes on Him for the last few weeks, he had a feeling she was thinking a lot about him.
"The way she moans my name, she really is cute as fuck" Y/N talked to himself in his head, it was like he was already falling in love with the Maiden of Might, despite him having intercourse with her right now.
In the sky for that matter again, but with Supergirl this time...
He pulls back to look into her eyes, her blush grew deeper as she began to giggle in excitement, her kink becoming reality with him fucking her in the sky.
"You like that huh, don't you Supergirl?" he teased her, his free hand drifting up her suit, his hand now over the symbol she proudly wore as the Girl of Steel simply nodded and hummed a response. Her face said it all that she was enjoying this.
A moment later... He begins going faster... Faster... And more faster as her walls enclosed on his cock.
"AHH FUCK!" Kara moaned out loudly, she felt her walls closing in as she begins to wince a little as she felt her hymen fully breaking, a little blood spewing out from her clit
"You want me to slow down? ~" Y/N looks down and sees some blood, and he realized her hymen must've broke, noticing she was in a little bit of pain, Kara's kink of flying sex along with it being her first time having intercourse was a bad idea he thought, was she really that desperate to have her first intercourse in the sky? - "You're bleeding, I think we should stop for now" he said with worry on his face, he didn't think she would feel pain from this, though it is the sensitive part of her body as a woman.
"No! Keep going! I can - Ah Rao! Take it!" she growled through the little pain from her hymen breaking, opening her eyes to make eye contact with him. Giving him a drunken smile to show she's alright.
He smiled back at her before leaning back in toward her face and began thrusting at faster pace, using his hips like a jackhammer to pound thoroughly into her pussy.
"Oh fuck fuck, yes yes yes! Ahhhh-mmplhh!" her moans are softly cut off by his lips on hers, muffled as his lips dance with hers, the wind began to pick up not long after, showing that Kara was indeed flying now instead of staying stationary in the air.
Her hands claw at his back, feeling the pleasure overwhelm her once again, her vaginal walls enclose further on his cock, both fought for tongue dominance once again as she kept flying them both, wherever she's taking them.
Y/N breaks the kiss to take a little break, just to hear her moans again as he thrusts deeply in her, eventually hitting her G-spot, which made her squirm in pleasure.
"Ahhh yes! Keep at it and I'm gonna cum soon!! Don't stop any sooner!!!" she moaned out loudly, following up with a laugh of pleasure, a joy in her body to feel ready to release herself on him. Knowing her virginity is being taken away by the person she laid eyes on and daydreamed about.
She kept her Eyes on Him, not breaking eye contact as she feels his cock inside her, he made a comment of her being tight which she simply giggled at before her moans and groans of pleasure continued, still flying backwards, not having a care in the world with her cape and hair blowing oppositely fast.
"Ohhh fuuuuck" she moans out slowly, she felt his cock beginning to twitch inside her vaginal walls... Which only meant one thing.
"Ugh, Kara... Don't think you're gonna be the only who'll cum soon!" Y/N announced the warning to her, getting ready to pull out in case of impregnating Supergirl.
"Cum in me" she growls, which raised concern to him.
"What? You sure? You could get pregnant" the young Space Gunslinger wasn't sure about the idea of releasing his seed inside her, he wasn't exactly ready to have a kid yet... More specifically... A kid with a Kryptonian? They haven't even began dating yet.
"Trust me... I know what I'm doing!" she pleaded, biting her bottom lip as he kept thrusting.
The green light given, he thought - "Fuck it" he kept thrusting till the climax was approaching, he felt it rising in him, groaning a little. Kara's body squirmed as he kept his pace up.
"AHHHHH! I'm cumming!!" Kara felt her juices squirt out, onto his cock as he thrusted deeply into her a few more times before releasing inside her next... Both releasing at the same time almost, maintaining eye contact as their moans and groans lap over each other.
Kara's flight speed slowed down as her body finished squirming, feeling him fill her up fully finally after half a minute passed by.
The latter both chuckle at the same time before the Kryptonian pulls him into a soft kiss, smiling deeply into it.
"So... Wanna head back to mine? Seems I flown us near Metropolis accidently" Supergirl giggled, realizing where she flew herself and Y/N.
"For the night? Sure..." he agreed with the offer. But he felt he had another round in him... After all... His sex drive surely asked for another round... Perhaps Kara has another in her too - "Round two maybe?" he asked her after pulling his pants up, hiding his manhood.
"Yeah! I'd love to! ~" she seemed overjoyed by the thought, biting her bottom lip thinking about it too - "Since you're offering. I want you to dominate me"
*
"AHHH YES!!!! I'M CUMMING!!" Kara shouted at the top of her lungs, now naked on the bed as she gets railed from behind, her vaginal walls once again closing in on his cock. Y/N's thighs clapped off of her ass as the moment of climax approaches once again. They've been at it for a good 30 minutes,
Their moans lap over each other again as Y/N collapses on top of Kara from behind, she collapsed on the bed covers with a satisfactory laugh and sigh, feeling him fill her up again... Good thing she can't get pregnant due to birth control tablets that somehow works on a Kryptonian which had him confused. She didn't clarify how it works, quite possibly Kryptonian made too which would explain it.
The two finished panting as they cleaned themselves up, surprisingly he jumped into the bed with Kara as she laid her head on his chest, placing a hand on his body as he wrapped an arm around her.
"That was a lot of fun, thanks Y/N. Rao you were amazing as my first" Kara sighed with satisfaction, hugging him as she smiled brightly.
"You still owe me a date, I really do wanna take you out on one" he replied, she looked up at him with a smile upon thinking about it.
"Yeah... That would be nice..." he looked back down at her after she replied, both smiling before he kissed her softly - "And that wasn't a date? You taking my virginity away? I would've counted that as a date"
"Hmm... Not necessarily a date but... We could call it a hook-up date... Supergirl" he spoke after a few seconds of thinking, the Kryptonian had a look of confusion on her face, before giggling.
"Kara, Y/N. Supergirl is only out there when I wear the cape" her giggle continued which made him join in with her as well. Her laugh was cute, he never thought he'd fall in love harder.
"Well... Maybe I just like the name Supergirl more.. Because you are Super" he smirked as the laughter died down.
"Okay... That was bad ~" she cringed with a snicker, he rolled his eyes afterwards at her - "But thank you"
"Whatever, sounded better in my head... And you're welcome"
The two stare at each other not long after, Her Eyes on Him not going away anytime sooner before their faces drew closer. Their lips softly connecting not long after...

Kent had thought of this moment for years, had comforted himself with the notion of how events would unfold if they ever crossed paths again. The ten years absence had lent to Clark's imagination especially. @gothamsaved was a protected facet of his heart's desire, kept safe where nothing could touch his memory, not even the sting of abandonment. Clark had never craved to kiss another before, and when times were hard, he would imagine that Bruce hadn't left, that he'd find him in his barn loft back in Smallville, asleep on the aged, red couch. He'd lean down, kiss his forehead, and go sit at his makeshift desk to tinker. It was there, in his hometown for that agonizing decade that Clark kept his memory of Bruce. Hair ruffled, gray eyes shut and soft breathing. His bat. At peace. Kent's fingers gently brushing his hair out of his face as he allowed himself to rest.
After meeting Batman, the Kryptonian shamelessly imagined what was under the cowl instead of kissing his estranged best friend. The slow undressing, the kisses pressed to every inch of Gotham's Knight, the fact he wanted to suck the sweat from his skin - the irony that they were one and the same wasn't lost on him. Innocence shifted into something else around the Bat, a desire that hadn't seen the light of day. The urge to take, to claim, to be rough, to be both soft and stern. To bruise and mark. Urges the Batman-named boy scout hadn't even known could exist within him.
And when feelings crescendo-ed, and finally, affections were made clear, Kal often wondered just what it would feel like to be inside of Bruce. The very notion to be one with him, embedded and unyielding, hips to hips, made a spark of lightning sizzle across his skin, and he yearned like he hadn't before.
The very thought of being one with B was driving the Kryptonian insane.
Which is how events unfolded in the Batcave. . .
When Clark had pushed Bruce to the wall after a successful mission, and kissed him like he was drowning, he didn't expect for the other to respond so enthusiastically to his lingering, explorative touches. Kent couldn't help himself as he licked into Wayne's mouth, as he gasped out if they wanted to go farther, if they wanted to stop. The other's answer, something hurried and low, and then Bruce was reeling him in by the collar of his suit. With each part of their uniforms that was removed, it was like the years between them were shed, and Superman kissing Batman became the same as the farm boy kissing his best friend.
Clark had thought the moment would have been more planned. A huge occasion. Flowers, romantic. Something to make B genuinely laugh at how Kent would have went all out for their first time.
As he has Bruce quaking below him, chest and stomach pressed to the cot, all he can think of is the fact the moment couldn't have been more perfect. Wayne feels so snug around his cock, like the Bat is attempting to pull him further inside of him, despite the fact they are as close as their atoms will allow.
Clark's hands are on his hips, bruising, leaving black & blue grip marks that will stay for the upwards of a week. He is behind him, pinning him to the mattress. Bruce's sweat is somehow endearing for the Man of Steel, who can't sweat, who even has to tell himself to blush at times.
With every thrust, Kent can barely keep control of his super strength, and the strain of holding back leads him to bite back guttural sounds of pleasure.
"Bruce," he grunts, slamming his pelvis against the billionaire's, the cot creaking from the strain.
Clark hungrily kisses across those beautiful scars near his shoulder blades, and only slows his thrusts to spread the Bat further open with his hands, so he can get deeper. The view that greets Kent is obscene and perfect, the round and muscular globes of Bruce's ass framing where they are connected. His cock, moving in slower, more forceful thrusts, teasing the muscle just so he could see Bruce take him whole.
Clark's getting addicted to it. The slow glide, the way Bruce fucking clings to him.
But he can almost feel the other's budding frustration along his nerve endings that he can't touch his cock, and he pulls out, groaning at the loss of contact. Besides, he needs to see B's face, and see how he looks when he's in the throes of pleasure.
Is it cheating if he uses his superspeed so he can have Bruce ride him?
He moves quickly, wind whipping around them as he takes his position under Bruce now. Wayne straddles him. The bed's springs protest more, and it's a wonder that Superman hasn't broken it already.
A soft, pleased laugh splits the air, and Kent looks up at him, at that flushed and handsome face. He allows himself a moment to truly stare, to memorize every inch of the man in front of him. Bruce's cock, which is so hard it looks almost painful, the pearly bead of pre come that leaks from him. The heavy breathing. Wayne's heartsong, beating in a rapid tune that makes Clark feel as gleeful as the cat that caught the canary.
A smirk dances on his lips, and he pushes back inside of him, just to watch the look on B's face.
"I knew you wanted me to touch you," he says, left hand moving to make a fist. Clark lays still, wraps his fingers and palm around Bruce's cock, and sets his warm blues upon soothing grey. It is obvious that whenever the detective moves to take him deeper, he'll be adding to his own pleasure, too.
"And I wanted to let you set the pace, B. I didn't want to break the bed."
It's taking all of me not to break you, too.

Rescue Mission – Suicide Mission.
Part 1 - Destroy the family.
Supercorp, Kara Danvers x Daughter!Reader, Lena Luthor x Daughter!Reader, Alex Danvers x Niece!Reader, Brainy x Reader.
Word count: 2160.
Warning: Angst. Injuries. Kidnappings.
It’s by the tone that you know something is wrong. When the principal knocks on your classroom door, and you hear your name being called out, you know it. Just by her tone.
“Something is wrong.” You say to Jamie, before getting up. “You know what to do.”
“Good luck.” It’s what she answers, and you’re not sure why, but you know you will need it.
She knows what to do. Situations like this have happened before, where you leave your classroom and don’t come back for the rest of the day, or even for the rest of the week. You usually leave everything behind, and what Jamie needs to do it’s put them away in your locker in between classes, and hope you’ll come back in one piece.
Maya looks at you, with furrowed brows, like asking what’s going on, and you nod at her while biting your lower lip. Jamie will also fill her in with whatever lie she can think of that day.
You’re out of the classroom and looking around to see any of your moms there, but it is aunt Alex who shows up. This fact alone is more than proof that all hell is breaking loose somewhere outside the safety of your school.
“Thank you, Mrs. Goodwin. I’ll take her from here.” Alex says, taking her hand out of her jacket’s pocket and putting it on your shoulder. You walk a little down the hallway knowing the matter is important and secret. What other reason would bring Alex to your school to see you and not her own daughter?
“Well?” You ask because you can’t wait much longer. The principal is far enough so she can’t hear you, and there’s no one outside the classrooms.
“I shouldn’t have this conversation here nor-” Alex says, opening the front door and you don’t see her motorcycle anywhere. “Let’s just fly to the DEO. It's an urgent matter.”
She doesn’t have to say twice. You’re curious about what could be so urgent, and to figure out why your heart is beating almost out of your chest when she hasn’t even said anything yet, but if it's an urgent matter, you know she won’t discuss them in public. You pick her up and fly to the DEO in a blur, getting there faster than anyone can say ‘what the fuck is that in the sky?’.
“There was an emergency elsewhere.” Alex starts, marching down the DEO with you right behind her. Brainy silently joins her on the other side. “We sent Supergirl to look at this situation hours ago.” She makes sure to emphasize the word hours so you know it’s serious. “It could’ve been a diversion though, because a while later this happened.”
You look at the tablet that was shoved in front of your face by Brainy. ‘This’ is an image of L-Corp being invaded by what looks like a whole army of men.
“What did they take?” You ask, pushing the tablet out of your face, and back to Brainy.
“Only one thing.” It’s Brainy who answers, and Alex stops walking, turning to you with a serious expression.
“Lena.”
Your heart stops for a second, your stomach drops, and your breath gets stuck in your lungs. You expected her to say anything, anything in the universe, except that. You fight the tears forming on your eyes. You can’t cry, you don’t have time for that. You must save her. You don’t have time to feel sorry for yourself, or for this sick feeling coming from your stomach up your throat. You stop it right there. You don’t even have time to throw up.
“Supergirl?” You ask as soon as you manage to. Alex’s hands go to your shoulders, and she gives both a light squeeze.
“No response for longer than what is expected.” You feel your stomach dropping again. No response is not good, and you know that. It’s no trouble speaking to the comm, so if she is not responding, it is because she can’t do so.
Your mind travels fast to all the worst scenarios you can imagine. Kara not responding being Rao knows where, and Lena being kidnapped is the definition of all the things that could go wrong in your life. You can’t fight the urge of throwing up anymore. You run to a trash can, sticking your head inside, and you feel your throat burning when the food comes back. You clean your mouth with the back of your hand and raise your head again.
You’re suddenly filled with a lot of energy and a sense of responsibility. It’s all in your hands, you’re the one who needs to save them. That’s the reason why you’re here. You turn around looking at both agents with a serious expression.
“What do we do? Where do I go? How-How can we get them both?” You ask your aunt, waiting for a clear direction. She’s been doing this for years; she’ll know what to do.
“Lena is human, she is in more dangerous conditions.” Alex says and you agree with your head.
“Supergirl, on the other hand, might be able to help if she is here.” Brainy adds and you agree again. Only to realize nothing has been decided.
“I-I don’t know what that means.”
“It means, we’re with you.” Alex comes forward, giving your shoulder another reassuring squeeze. “If you go for Kara, we’ll go for Lena and vice-versa. It’s your call.”
Oh great, yes. Put this enormous responsibility on a kid’s shoulders. How’s that even fair?
“Get Supergirl’s last location. Find out who the fuck got Lena, and where she might be.” You ask Brainy who quickly shows you Kara’s last location on the screen. “I’ll go get Supergirl.”
It was not a decision, if you were being honest. It was a cry for help. If Kara can help, then you’re going to need it. You got one of your moms location, it’s a no brainer. Kara can help, Lena needs help. Two Kryptonians are better than one, should you think so.
You fly to wherever Kara was pinpointed last. You see destruction everywhere. Old -and luckily- abandoned buildings lay wrecked on the ground. Dust and havoc are seen throughout the place, and there’s no one in sight. No one, except. Except one hand coming off from a wreckage pile.
You fly down, easily removing blocks of concrete, steel frames and other indistinguishable wreckage, to find Kara trapped under them. Face all bloody, completely bruised. You feel light-headed at the sight of your wounded and bloody mommy. You drop on your knees next to her, tears blurring your eyes.
“Momma! Hey, hey, can you hear me?” You hold her in your arms, cleaning her face from the blood. She can’t hear you, you know that for sure. She is blacked out, her body feels limp in your arms, like a rag doll. “Momma, please. Please. Don’t do this to me.” There’s a burning feeling on your chest, like you might just explode and take this whole place down with you. But no matter how much you call, and yell, and beg, Kara doesn’t answer.
Kara’s hands are also bloody and bruised, like she’s been fighting for dear life, and you look around trying to find out what could’ve caused such damage to her. Her breath is weak, and her heart is beating slowly. You hold her tight, seeing your tears falling on her face.
“I’ve got Supergirl.” You press your comm, calling Alex. “She won’t be able to help. I’m bringing her over; get the infirmary ready.” You try to even your voice. “She’s beaten down heavily.”
“We’ll be ready for both of you.” Alex’s voice comes in your ear, and you pick up Kara’s limp body in bridal style.
“I’ve got you, mommy.” You kiss her forehead, tasting blood and dirt on the process. It doesn’t matter. Nothing matters except Kara, right now. “You’re safe. I’m here.”
Your heart is beating fast all the way back to the DEO. It’s more than painful, it’s a word you’ve never even heard before, a totally new kind of hurt. Having your momma so weak and injured in your arms. It doesn’t matter that you can still see her slowly breathing and hear her weak heartbeat, it doesn’t matter that you know that she is alive, because seeing her like this has made a part of you die.
You land inside the DEO, and Alex is indeed ready for both of you. You lay Kara on a stretcher, and some agents roll her out of your sight and off to the infirmary she goes. You know the process, yellow sunlight, blah-blah-blah. Your heart still aches, regardless.
“Lena?” You ask your aunt that is still next to you, hands on her waist with a serious expression.
“Come see something.” Alex asks, making her way to the big screen in front of you. And Brainy, coming out of nowhere, appears with a tablet next to you.
“It’s an encrypted message.” He says, and the message appears on the big screen soon after.
We will destroy the entire family.
“I’m working on finding the source of the message, but for now that’s all we have.” Brainy says and you look at aunt Alex, biting the inside of your mouth. The entire family is what the message says. You know what she’s thinking. You’re thinking about it too.
“They wouldn’t.” You say, shaking your head. But your heart is beating fast, like it’s telling you that they -whoever they may be- would.
“I have to be sure.” Alex says, and you sigh, aware of that too.
“I’ll go get Jamie; you get Kelly.” Alex is out of the room before you’re half finished. And you’re almost flying away when you look back at Brainy. “Find Lena.”
“Working on it.” He says, running to his workstation and you fly away to the school.
You don’t have time to clean yourself and look presentable. You are aware there’s blood and dirt on your super suit. You don’t care. You fly inside of your school, causing a big commotion with the students. Most of them get out of their classrooms and go into the hallway, when you land and start walking to where you think Jamie might be.
“It’s Superkid!” They all say, while taking pictures of you, and all the flashes distract you from using your x-ray vision well.
The teachers also look impressed, coming out of their classrooms to see you. You feel like a circus freak, with all these people shouting and cheering you, like you’re supposed to be doing tricks for them. It’s ironic to think that if you had your glasses on, you would be invisible to them.
You look around, feeling lost. The cameras are blinding, the cheering is deafening, and the more you look around and don’t see the face you’re looking for, the more desperate you get. You clench your fist, trying to regain focus, and look around the crowd when your eyes land on Maya.
You manage to speak, out of gritted teeth. “Ms. Olsen-Danvers.” You look around searching for Jamie. “Where is she?”
“She left.” Maya says, and you look back at her. Eyes zooming in and you notice her shaky breath. You step in closer, trying to even your own breath.
“Where?” You spit. Maya shakes her head in denial.
“Both of the Danvers have left with Jamie’s mother.” The teacher says and you blink at the realization you’re the other Danvers, and that Jamie didn’t leave with you.
You look back at Maya one last time, blinking a sense of calmness -you don’t really feel- into her, before using your super speed out of the school. “Alex, did you pick Jamie up?”
“I thought you were going to.” You hear on your comm, and you drop your head low. You were too late. “I came to pick up Kelly.”
“And?”
“We’re on our way to the DEO. Should I go to your school?” Alex asks, and your eyes are filled with tears. No. You can’t tell her that. You can’t say the words. They’re stuck inside you, like the hardest truth you’ve ever spoken. You feel like a nightmare is filling your surroundings, and you’re totally alone. You fall on your knees, vision blurry, heart squeezing on your chest. “Superkid? Should I go pick her up? Please come in.”
Say it! Go on, tell her! Tell her you were too late. Tell her they’ve got Jamie. Tell her they have Lena, and that they’ve beaten Kara to the point of unconsciousness. Tell her they have your entire life in their hands.
“Can you hear me? Superkid, CAN YOU HEAR ME?”
“Don’t.” You manage to say woefully, minutes after the first question was asked. “Don’t come.” You breathe out. “She is not here.”

A Luthor’s Gambit
The pneumatic hiss of the sealed doors is a deafening sound in the small space of the decontamination chamber—it reverberates off the metal walls, and the sudden change in pressure moves the air in an imitation of a breeze. It ruffles the stray hairs that have escaped Lena's bun and brings the sterile scent of the containment unit to her nose in one sudden waft.
She's used to it by now, but those first few seconds are always a bit of an adjustment—the hiss of the door, the smell of disinfectant, the hum of the air filtration devices that run 24/7 no matter what... and, of course, the green glow of the room.
There's a faint clacking coming from the other end of the room—the sound of plastic hitting plastic, muted by the constant buzz of the lights and filters and the occasional beeping of monitoring machinery. Everything is white, sterile, and a little unnerving, considering the ominous green of the lamps evenly spaced on the ceiling.
The clacking continues as Lena makes her way in—there is a small table by something that could be described as a window (it is in fact an incredibly complex projection to provide the illusion of one). One of the two metal chairs by said table is occupied by a figure, clad in white, hunched over a chessboard, methodically moving pieces around with determined focus.
“Good morning, doctor,” her subject speaks lowly, without turning to face her. “Or is it afternoon already?”
Lena smiles as she approaches—it's only a little bit forced. “Afternoon,” she says as she takes the seat she has come to think of as hers. “But only just.”
The other woman hums noncommittally. Her blonde hair Is tied into a ponytail, out of her face, and her cool gaze studies the chessboard with unrelenting focus. Lena peers over her clipboard, taking mental notes for the time being as she follows the chess pieces with undisguised interest.
“Are you practicing your openings?”
Clack—another piece finds its place on the board.
“I am working through all the possible variations of the Sicilian Defense.” Clack. “I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about with the Najdorf. But Sveshnikov”—clack— “Sveshnikov's is much more... inspired.” Clack.
Lena leans back, crossing her legs and dashing off short notes on her clipboard. The young woman is used to this, and doesn't speak again until Lena is finished. Their gazes meet over the carefully arranged chess pieces, only for a moment—there is no recognition in the coolness of those blue eyes, and Lena has to pretend it doesn’t affect her.
“You seem to be in better spirits today,” she comments. It's true—despite her withdrawn demeanor, the blonde seems... better. Lighter, somehow. It's good to see it, even if the change is so small it could very well be entirely insignificant.
But it isn't. Not to Lena.
“The agent brought a cat yesterday,” the young woman clarified, a hint of a smile tugging at her lips as she resets the board.
“Oh?” Lena questions, brow raised. Her hand twitches around the pen she's holding—she holds off the impulse to take more notes. She hadn't been notified of visit yesterday, but she is glad for it. “How was it?” she asks instead, setting the clipboard aside for now, a signal that this is just... a conversation, nothing more.
“It was a kitten,” the blonde clarifies, grinning and holding out her hand. “He was so small—I could hold him with one hand.”
Lena smiles—she can't help it when she sees some genuine happiness in those eyes. “And how did that feel? Holding him?”
There's a pause—the blonde looks at the flexing fingers of her own hand for a few moments, as if remembering the weight of the kitten in her palm. “Fuzzy,” she replies, finally, releasing a little laugh. “And a little pointy. And... warm. He was so small—and cute. He fell asleep on my chest. It was nice.”
“That does sound nice,” Lena agrees. “Maybe Agent Danvers will be able to bring him again sometime soon, huh?”
The young woman's smile widens, and she finally directs her gaze at Lena, and keeps it there. “I would like that—very much. I've never seen a kitten in real life before. It was... nice.”
Lena's smile falters a touch, but she is careful not to let it show. “You have—you've even held kittens before,” she says gently, biting at the inside of her cheek. “You just don't remember—but you will, Kara.”
Kara deflates slightly—her name may as well be a number, for all the familiarity she has with it. “I know. I know.”
Lena can feel herself tense in her seat, but she pushes her most hopeless thoughts aside for the time being, grasping at her clipboard until her knuckles go white. She has a job to do.
“Well. Besides the kitten—how are you doing?”
The blonde shrugs. “Same old, same old. I finished All the Pretty Horses earlier today. God, what a boring book.” Her eyes wonder, as if she's trying to remember the most mundane details about her day. “Those” —she gestures towards the ceiling, at the green glowing lamps above them — "buzz a lot—sometimes enough to keep me awake at night. They give me headaches.”
Lena notes it dutifully on her clipboard. “The Kryptonite in these lamps is synthetic,” she explains, not for the first time. “This particular strain shouldn't affect you at a molecular level at this dosage, but I'll take another look at them to be safe. In the meantime,... you could probably use some aspirin.”
It feels like a cruel joke, telling this superpowered being to take some aspirin—almost as cruel as having to use this strain of Kryptonite to keep her safe from the strain poisoning the atmosphere outside.
There's another shrug, and just like that, blue eyes refocus almost entirely on the chessboard. Lena watches wordlessly for the few moments it takes Kara to reset the whole thing one more time.
The rook the Kryptonian holds gleams green under the lamps.
“So, Doctor Luthor,” she says, going about completing the set, pieces clacking away. “Fancy a game?”
Clack.

Of Love and Sunlight - Part 02
Here it is! To be perfectly honest with all of you, this part has been written first. There will be a part 03, somewhen in the future. I just need to write it. And there are some tentatives plot bunnies for a part 04. So we’ll see how it works out.
You can visit my AO3 if you want. I’ll post Of Love and Sunlight there soon.
Part 01
Hope you all like it!
Tittles are adapted from Sunlight by Hozier, because I love this song and I didn’t have any idea how to name this series.
I apologize for any spelling or grammar errors, English is not my first language. I hope it’s still intelligible.

Hold me, carry me slowly
.
Marinette opens her front door tiredly. It’s far too early for anyone to be bothering her yet. She’s only awake because the twins are going to start fussing soon, and despite her short night, she prefers waking up with her alarm than with her babies’ cries. It tends to make her panic if they’re the ones waking her up, because her mind immediately wonders what’s wrong instead of remembering that it’s feeding time.
She’s not expecting to see Jon and Damian on her front step. She hurriedly steps out and closes the door behind her to bare them entry, leaving only a sliver open so she’ll hear her babies if anything happened.
“What are you doing here?” She hisses, glaring.
“We wanted to talk to you, Marinette,” Damian replies, words mild, expression politely blank, while Jon looks both hopeful and sheepish.
Marinette’s blood boils.
“I have nothing to say to either of you!” She snaps back. “You made it perfectly clear that you want nothing to do with me! Well, I don’t want anything to do with you!”
It’s only because she knows him so well that she sees Jon’s flinch at her words, but despite that he takes a step forward, careful not to touch her. Marinette takes a step back and curses the fact that the door is in the way.
“Marinette, we’re sorry. We’re really, really sorry for everything and we would like to talk. Please.”
And Marinette has always been weak to Jon’s earnest tone and puppy dog eyes. She wants to let them in and listens to what sort of flimsy excuses they came up with, because she missed them. She missed them so much, but they broke her heart and she’s not ready to let them break her babies’ hearts too.
Just as she’s about to open her mouth and tell them to get lost, there’s a sharp wail coming from the bedroom and at their suddenly alert expressions, she knows they heard it too. She closes her eyes just as a second wail starts and she knows there’s no getting rid of them now.
“Are you…” Jon starts, eyes fixed intently on the door. “Marinette, are you babysitting?”
She only sighs in answer and opens the door to get back inside. She doesn’t close it in their face as much as she wants to, because she knows they’re about to follow.
The girls are both fussing in their crib and Marinette scoops Scarlet up for a nappy change. She takes the time to put Asha’s pacifier back into her mouth before moving to the changing table.
“There, there. No need to cry. It’s just a soil nappy. We know how to take care of those.” She coos gently. “There, you go. All clean. I’m going to change Asha now and then we’ll have a nice breakfast, okay?”
She puts Scarlett back in the crib despite her complains and repeats the whole process with Asha.
She can feel the boys’ eyes on her, and it makes her want to lash out.
“Are they ours?” Damian demands.
“They’re mine,” she snaps, not looking at him. “There’re no fathers list on the birth certificates. They don’t need any dads, they have me.”
“But they’re ours, right?” Jon presses, tone so hopeful, but Marinette refuses to answer. That’s an answer in itself.
“Why didn’t you tell us? Why didn’t you call?” Damian speaks again.
“I called you!” She hissed, eyes blazing in anger, but keeping her tone even so as not to upset her babies too much. “I called you and left voicemails and then both your numbers were disconnected, and I got the message! If you didn’t want anything to do with me, then I didn’t want anything to do with you either!”
“I didn’t change my number,” Damian says slowly, eyes never leaving the little face on the changing table. And then what he said seem to register and he retrieves his phone with a deep frown to swipe through the apps. “It’s not the same number.” He then looks at Jon with an almost wide-eyed look and Jon takes out his own phone to seemingly so the same manip.
“Me too,” he reveals, shocked. “Someone changed our numbers. Damian!” He hisses, this time with a glare for his boyfriend.
“Marinette, can you please give us the possibility to explain-”
“I’m this close to throw you both out, Damian! There’s nothing you could say that would make anything that you did okay!” She replies hotly.
“Please, Mari,” he pleads. “Please, just hear us out. You can throw us out after. I promise, if you want us to go, we will.”
Jon doesn’t add anything, but he bites his bottom lip and nods jerkily.
“Just… just go. Wait in the living room. I need to feed the girls.”
They both listen, thankfully. Marinette needs a minute.
Someone changed their phone numbers? Without their consent? That seems stupid and unfeasible, but… but she wants to believe them. She missed them. God, she missed them so much.
Marinette fusses a bit with Asha’s onesie and tries to make a list of all the reasons why she shouldn’t let them back in her life. When Scarlett makes an impatient noise that announces her readiness to cry again, Marinette knows that she can’t wait any longer. She scoops the girls with their favorite plushies and goes to the living room.
Damian and Jon are sitting squished on the armchair beside the couch.
Marinette sighs again and sits carefully in front of the couch on the plush carpet. It takes some maneuvering, but soon Asha is leaning across her lap, gently sucking her pacifier and looking at Marinette with all the trust her little baby heart knows. Marinette arranges the Tikki plushy on her tummy so she can grasp it.
“Let’s feed Scarlett,” she tells her daughter. “You know she’s always hungry.”
She then uncovers her left breast and, removing the pacifier, guides Scarlett to her nipple. The baby latches onto it and start sucking greedily, her little fingers kneading Marinette’s sleep shirt.
And then she waits. She’s not going to make things easy for them.
Jon is the first to move, seemingly transfigured by the sign of his daughter. He stands up in the living-room to face her.
“It’ll be easier to show you.” He says, before starting to spin so fast he’s only a blur, but when he stops, he’s wearing Superboy’s uniform and Marinette feels like a stone has dropped to the bottom of her stomach.
“I’m Superboy,” Jon tells her almost gently, as if he doesn’t want to spook her.
“And I’m Robin,” Damian utters after him. He hasn’t moved from the armchair, but there’s a green domino mask between his fingers.
“Oh,” Marinette says quietly, before she drops her gaze to Scarlett’s face. Her daughter has closed her eyes while she’s nursing.
Marinette… Marinette doesn’t know what to say. She knows what it means to be a hero. She used to be one, after all. She knows the sacrifices, the missed opportunities and the excuses. She knows the necessity for a secret identity and what it means to trust someone with it.
“You broke my heart,” she admits in a whisper, because what else can she say in the face of that, and she can feel her eyes prickle with tears.
Jon drops to his knees in front of her, back in his jeans and hoody.
“I’m so sorry, Mari. I never wanted to do that. It broke mine too to end things, but we couldn’t tell you.”
“We asked for the permission to tell you our identities,” Damian says, kneeling beside Jon on the carpet to face her, “but we were denied.”
“We had a long mission,” Jon continues. “Dad, Aunt Kara, Conner and me, as the last Kryptonians, were asked to help two planets come to an understanding. They were at war and their whole solar system was suffering from it. The mission was to stop the war long enough for a ceasefire and then helps with negotiating a peace treaty. Green Lantern helped and Damian-”
“I wasn’t going to let Jon walks into a dangerous fight without back up,” Damian cuts him off.
“I’m basically indestructible!” Jon replies without any real heat, proving it was an old argument. “And Dad, Aunt Kara and Kon were my back up!”
Damian ignores the interruption, focusing back on Marinette.
“The Green Lantern Corps was part of the mission too and while it’s officially over, the situation is still tense on those planets. The Corps is keeping an eye on things for now. We may have to go back if things turn south again, but hopefully, it won’t require our deployment again.”
“And we wanted to tell you the truth.” Jon tells her, earnest and heartbroken. “But when we asked our dads, they said our relationship was too new. That we couldn’t risk it. Even more so because we were going to leave for months and we wouldn’t be there to ‘make sure you don’t tell anyone’.” he finishes bitterly.
“As much as we didn’t want to end our relationship with you, without the permission to tell you the truth, we couldn’t disappear from the face of the earth and invent an excuse like ‘we’re doing a tour of the world and you’re not invited’.” Damian sighs and grabs Jon’s hand tightly. “We spent the last few months trying to come up with a way to win you back. Anytime we had some down time, we brainstormed about what we’ll do once we’re back on Earth.”
During their explanation, Marinette had switched the girls for feeding. Across her lap, Scarlett was now looking in direction of the men, probably intrigued by those new voices she didn’t know.
“And the phone numbers?” She eventually asks.
Damian slumps, breaking his rigid posture. “Do you know who my father is?” He asks.
“Batman?” She tries, but she’s almost certain. If he’s Robin, then it makes sense for his father to be the big bat himself. Which also mean that his siblings are the other Gotham vigilantes.
“Yes. Jon and I had to leave our phones here. Even the communications with the Watchtower were scarce. If you called more than once, Father must have changed our numbers.”
“But why?” She growls. “What right did he have?! You’re both adults! He didn’t even try to find out why I was calling you!”
“I’m sorry, Mari. I know Father loves me, but he tends to do what he thinks is best without always consulting us. Rest assure that I’ll have words with him.”
Asha choses that moment to push away her breast and Marinette does the usual ministrations to clean her face and clears her stomach of gas.
She hesitates a second, before closing her eyes with a deep sigh.
When she opens them again, she holds Asha out like a present. Jon scrambles closer without hesitation and very carefully accepts her in his arms, following her instructions on how best to hold her.
“This is Asha. Asha Gina Dupain-Cheng. She’s Dami’s.”
“Oh my god,” Jon exhales and a few tears immediately escapes his eyes. “Hello, Asha. It’s very nice to meet you.” His voice cracks a bit as Damian looks over his shoulder with an expression so soft and lost that Marinette’s heart aches with it. She beckons Damian closer too and places Scarlett in his own arms.
“And this is Scarlett Sabine Dupain-Cheng. She’s Jon’s.”
Damian is more confident in holding her, so he frees a hand to gently run his finger down her skin.
“Hello, Scarlett.”
“How…” Jon chocks on his tears. “How does it work? They’re twins, right?”
Arms free, Marinette slumps against the couch.
“It’s called ‘heteropaternal superfecundation’. My ovaries released two eggs at the same time, and both were fertilized. That alone would have resulted in fraternal twins. Except that one was fertilized by Jon and the other by Dami. So, twin babies with different bio dads.”
Because her Luck was just like that. Of course, Tikki’s influence would make Marinette’s first pregnancy the result of almost impossible odds.
For a long moment no one say anything. Jon and Damian are pressed so tightly together, both alternating looking at each baby in their arms, that it brings s a reluctant smile to Marinette.
“You have so much groveling to do,” she tells them. “You broke my heart. I’m not kidding when I say that. And the father section on the birth certificates is going to stay blank until I can trust you again. But you do something like that again and Scarlett, Asha and I are out of your lives for good. I don’t care if Scarlett is half-alien. They’re mine more than they’re yours right now. I carried them for eight months, I gave birth to them, and now I’m feeding them. And I was alone for all of that.”
“I promise, Habibti, that we’ll prove to you we’re here to stay. We want you and we want the girls.”
“It was a long mission,” Jon grins cheekily. “We definitely earned some downtime.”
“Exactly,” Damian agrees. “What would you like for breakfast, Mari? I’ll cook.”
“I made French toasts, last night. The preparation is in the fridge. You can cook that.”
With a small smile, Damian carefully gives her back Scarlett and then presses a dry kiss to Marinette’s forehead, before disappearing in the kitchen.
Jon moves until he’s sitting by her side against the couch and smiles at her. She missed his smile.
“So, what can you tell me about your daughters?”
“They are very healthy babies,” Marinette starts. “Scarlett definitely inherits your appetite. I need to complement her diet with formula because I don’t produce enough milk for all her feeding, plus Asha’s. That’s the alien biology, I suppose?”
“Yeah. Mom had some problem with that too when she had me, but at least she only had one baby to feed. What about Asha?”
“She’s fine with just breast milk, but she’s fussier when it’s time for sleep. I hope she’s not a premature insomniac, but now that I know about your nightly activities, I shan’t hold my breath.”
Jon snickers.
Breakfast is a lively affair. The French toast was only one portion, so Dami made pancakes and a fruit salad to accommodate Jon’s and his appetite. For the first time in weeks, Marinette can eat without one of her arms being commandeered by one of the twins. She knows things aren’t completely better. They need to talk about their relationship, their expectations, and relearn what it means to be together, all three of them plus two babies. But that particular conversation can wait a bit. For now, Marinette tells them about Asha’s curiosity and Scarlett’s boundless energy, about some of the weirdest things that happened during her pregnancy.
Things will work out. She’ll make sure of that.

My Take on a Superman Video Game
I've seen other people give their takes on how to approach this, and given Superman and video games are two major topics of interest for me, I thought I'd give my pitch.
So first off, I’m giving him a health bar. Yes I know some people will b**** and no I don’t care. I don’t care what people who get their Superman knowledge from YouTube or Instagram “fact” pages think about the character, and all the other attempts such as the city health bar in the Returns game didn’t satisfy me. So right off the bat he’s getting a health bar. Second: it’s time to start showing casuals areas of Superman lore they either don’t know about or aren’t very familiar with. The reason for that is people think they “know” Superman so we need to immediately show something they DON’T know about or HAVEN’T seen already to get them to not immediately dismiss Superman out of hand based on memes or whatever. Which leads into my third creative point. Third: I’m not setting the first game in Metropolis. The Arkham games didn’t immediately throw you into an open world Gotham, they built up to it. The Spider-Man PS4 game started off with an open world because they were able to build upon dozens of Spider-Man games that laid the ground work for them. The first Superman game in decades needs to avoid biting off more than it can chew, and throwing Superman into an open world feels like a bad idea. So where can it be? Well there are options. There’s Warworld. There’s Apokolips. But I think the best location is one that’s intrinsically tied to Superman and his Kryptonian background, and serves as a nice counterpart to Batman starting out in Arkham Asylum: The Phantom Zone
The Asylum was a great starting point for Batman for a couple reason: 1. It’s the iconic prison where Batman leaves his Rogues, 2. It’s gothic and horror esque vibe crafts the perfect atmosphere, and 3. it’s place as a center for examining the mind makes it great for exploring Batman’s mental state. For similar reason the PZ is the perfect place to start off Superman: 1. It likewise is an iconic prison for Superman Rogues 2. It’s science fiction and horror mixed together which crafts the perfect atmosphere for Superman to kick ass or be introspective, and 3. It lets Kal come face to face with his Kryptonian heritage in the nastiest way possible as he’s dumped into a place filled with prisoners his father helped exile as well as all the other monsters and criminals other races have dumped there. So he’s going to the Zone but how does he get there and what’s the story? It would be boring if he just walked in. Here’s the pitch: It’s Year 2 of Superman’s career. He’s already established himself as a hero in Metropolis and worldwide. The public knows he claims to mean them no harm and that he only seems to do good deeds, but they know very little about his origins and are divided as to his true intentions. The problem is Clark himself doesn’t really know his origins either beyond knowing he’s an alien from another planet. His only relics from his home planet are the rocket, a tablet written in a language he can’t read, and a curious device that doesn’t seem to have any use. As a show of goodwill, and because he hasn’t made any progress understanding them himself, Clark turns the tablet and the device over to STAR Labs for study. One day as he’s beating down some Intergang thugs, reality twists, and suddenly Clark finds himself in a place that is definitely not Metropolis. The “earth” is chalk white, the sky is a purple, green lightning flashes around as far as he can see, and where the sun should be there’s instead a black hole. Somehow Clark and the terrified Intergang thugs have ended up in the Phantom Zone with no idea of how they got there and how to get back.
The thugs accuse Clark of transporting them there and attack him, with Clark suddenly realizing his powers are fading in this place with no sunlight. Luckily a stranger arrives and aids Clark in dispatching the thugs. Clark thanks him for his aid and then asks who he is. The stranger pauses and tells Clark: “My name is Dru-Zod, a general of Krypton”. He raises a hand for Clark to shake. “I was a friend of your father, Kal-El”. Zod tells Kal about the place he’s in, and his history with it. He tells him that other humans have been brought here as well besides the Intergang thugs, including many of Clark’s foes. Zod informs Clark that the likely culprit for their arrival to the PZ is the very first prisoner Jor-El ever banished to the Phantom Zone: Xa-Du the Phantom King, who has spent so long imprisoned that he seems to have obtained a degree of control over the Zone that gives him strange powers. Kal is told that if he does not collect the scattered humans and escape the Zone soon, he and the humans will become trapped there, as anyone who spends too long in the Zone eventually becomes unable to leave without special equipment on the other side to bring them back, thanks to the way the Zone warps the inhabitants. Kal’s mission is clear: Collect the scattered humans, defeat and pacify his foes trapped there with him so they can be brought back as well, and defeat the Phantom King before he tears a hole between the Zone and the real world that could cause catastrophe for Earth. That’s the basic story pitch, next I’ll go into gameplay mechanics and what Rogues I’d use.
Clark starts the game having been de powered back to “Golden Age” power levels due to there being no sun in the PZ. Zod teaches him about Sunstones that grow naturally in the PZ, which will allow him to slowly re-empower himself. The Sunstones ward off the PZ’s influence and basically act as perk points for Clark to unlock and upgrade his powers. At the start he can’t fly, he can only run and leap. Zod acts as Kal’s mentor throughout the game, teaching him about Kryptonian history and how to read the language. He also tutors him in the dangers of the Phantom Zone as well as training him to hone his powers. Kal gets the feeling there’s more to Zod than he’s letting on though, and some of his comments raise Kal’s suspicions. The base of the game is the Fortress of Solitude.
It’s backstory is that when Jor-El first discovered the PZ, he built the FoS as a research outpost to study the place. It’s packed full of Kryptonian tech and it has the ability to shift back into the natural world. Zod couldn’t use it because it’s caretaker Kelex only responds to House El members. However it won’t shift back until it judges its user “sterilized” in order to avoid contaminating the natural world with the Zone’s influence. Because Kal was brought over so suddenly and without the proper tech, he has to use Sunstones to purge the Zone from his body before the Fortress will respond to his commands. This is a nice way of tying the gameplay and story together. Kal needs the stones to save the civilians and to go home, which helps explain why he might do side quests rather than stick with just the main questline. Civilians Superman has to rescue in the Zone: Lois Lane, Perry White, Jimmy Olsen, Dr. Veritas, Ron Troupe, Dr. John Henry Irons, Dr. Hamilton, Bibbo, Dr. Hank Henshaw and his family, Commissioner Henderson, Captain Maggie Sawyer, Detective Turpin, members of the Newskids Legion, Morgan Edge, and other OCs or nameless civilians. Kal also meets Krypto, who was transported into the Zone by Jor-El in order to watch over the Fortress as its guard, in order to keep it safe so that Kal might one day reclaim it. Rogues: Some of Superman’s Rogues have been teleported to the PZ as well, and unfortunately they have their own plans for escaping the Zone, even if it means they have to kill Superman to do it.
Metallo: John Corbyn is a cyborg soldier that served in the US Army under Sam Lane and was created as the government’s Anti-Superman deterrent. After a fight with Superman in his early career left him crippled, he was bonded to a nanosuit that equips him with various weaponry capable of killing Superman. He believes Superman transported everyone there as part of a first strike against humanity. Parasite: A Lexcorp lab experiment gone horribly wrong, Rudy Jones is a science fiction vampire who needs to kill to sustain himself. He absorbs the memories and skills of whoever he kills, and he is able to transform his body into various weapons (think Alex Mercer from [PROTOTYPE] to know what I mean). He’s hunting the civilians to feed on and has his eye on Superman as well. Livewire: Leslie was a vlogger with a far looser code of ethics than Clark. Her “reporting” eventually angered the wrong people who attempted to have her assassinated. Instead Leslie ended up with powers over electromagnetism, and a grudge against Morgan Edge who she believes was behind the Intergang hit on her. Edge is her target but she doesn’t mind stepping over Superman’s corpse if she has to. The Terran (Terra-Man): Krypton wasn’t the only planet to discover the Phantom Zone. One alien race banished the immortal hunter known as the Terran, whose human name was Tobias before he was abducted by aliens who were interested in the potential of the human meta gene and wanted to experiment on him. Their experiment was a success and Tobias broke free, using their own weaponry to hunt them down and carve a bloody path across the stars. Eventually he was transported to the PZ and is now desperate to escape. Mr. Mxy: Who is this creature? Neither a human nor seemingly an alien prisoner of the PZ, Mxy engages Clark in a series of puzzles that reveal secrets about the PZ... and foretell of threats to come. Red Cloud: An enforcer for the Invisible Mafia, her only loyalty is to her boss Leone. Her identity is a secret from Clark for now and she intends for it to remain that way. Silver Banshee: Not every human teleported to the PZ was unchanged. Some reacted much more strongly to the Zone’s influence. One former human has now been twisted into the sinister Silver Banshee, driven insane by the whispers in the Zone and the alterations to her body. She poses a formidable threat to Clark in her current state. Xa-Du: The Phantom King and first prisoner of the Phantom Zone sent from Krypton. Zod claims he was insane even before he was sent here but his incarceration has done nothing to improve his health if so. Gleefully plotting his return to the real world, Xa’s only desire is to raise an army of super zombies with himself as their Necrogod ruler. His time in the Zone has given him control over the degraded Phantoms, and he can channel the energies permeating the Zone into a variety of attacks (basically he’s a space necromancer). His aim is to corrupt Kal-El and the Fortress and use both to travel to Earth and he will never stop hunting Kal. Non boss mooks for Clark to fight: Phantoms - Some of the inhabitants of the Zone have degenerated into the ghostly Phantoms, their only desire to spread their suffering to others. They have been so warped by the Zone they’ve become a part of it and are thus incapable of permanently dying. Shades - Much more powerful Phantoms, Shades retain some memory of their former lives and posses some of their former skills. They serve as the elite of Xa-DU’s forces. Shadowbreed - Native creatures of the PZ, these beings feed on the light of the SunStones and thus see Clark as a meal as well. They possess various animals of the PZ to attack and feed on him. Eradicators - Once these machines served House El in their study of this place acting as defenders. But time has eroded their programming and they now seek to destroy even the Last Son of their old House.
That's the basic of my pitch, I think it's a fairly manageable one that addresses a lot of the arguments you get from people about why a game "wouldn't work" or whatever.

Sick Days
Obviously before Mon el admits his feelings.
So how do you feel?" Mon-el asked when he entered Kara's room.
"Sick, so so very sick. I want to die" Kara sniffled.
Mon-el patted her shoulder, and pulled the blanket over her curled up body again.
"I hope Snapper undersdands. Ugh! I forgod to dell her!" Kara cried, she struggled to get up and rush to the phone but Mon el forced her to lie down again.
"It's okay. James already made an excuse as to why you're not going." Mon el assured her
"An excuse! Bud... I'm just sick, Dan excuse wilb ondly make id worsde." Kara whined as she tried to reach for the phone again.
"No it won't. We just told him that you have wild food poisoning and are throwing up as we speak. It sounds a lot better than just a cold."
"Jusb a cold. This a Krypdoniand cold, dose are mega worsde. It's den million colds at once." Kara groaned, swiveling her head dramatically. Then she sat up.
"Whab about you! Your fake job," She cried.
Mon-el brushed a stray hair out of her face, a smile creeping on his face as he looked at her. Even though her skin was ashen, her usually bouncy blonde curls were limp and stringy and her eyes were bloodshot and her nose was as stuffed up as a Build a Bear, she was cute.
She cared about his job, she cared what her boss would think. That was true determination and loyalty. Just generally niceness. That was Kara. She may be an alien, but she could fit as the girl next door any day of the week. She was just so optimistic and cheerful, it was one of the best things he liked about her.
In fact that was why he volunteered to help stay with her today. He didn't really know how to take care of a sick person but he googled it so it seemed easy.
Now Kara was a grown woman, but she was practically useless when she was sick, physically not able to get out of bed useless, and that usually put a damper on getting lunch herself or getting dress or getting tissues when she ran out.
Alex was going to do it, but once Mon-el heard he volunteered. And insisted that Alex go do her job and he would take care of her.
Lately Mon-el had been thinking a lot about Kara. A lot. She would creep up into his mind and random parts of the day even if she wasn't in the room.
He would stare at daffodils and think "Kara would love those. The first sign of spring. What did she call them? Oh right, cups of sunshine in bloom."
To a regular person that would be cheesy but that was just Kara.
He would watch tv shows and suddenly a particular line would pop up and he would be tempted to write it down so he could tell her later.
Yeah, he had to admit it. He got it bad for the Kryptonian.
But he couldn't admit it TO her.
She was just so strong and caring and yes, that might be her point of weakness. She would care too much. And when people fell in love, those feelings only amplify and then she would be protective of him this way and that and then there would be the whole "it's not you, it's my enemies." He was aware of the danger. It still didn't mean he could get over his feelings just like that.
Especially when she sounded like that.
"I'm gonna make you some food. You stay here and start getting better." Mon-el told her. Kara did what she was told and buried her head under the pillow without a second thought.
When Mon-el came back from the kitchen, Kara had fallen off the bed, and was staring dazedly at the wall.
"Mon-el. Fuddy ting. I can'd ged up." Kara said. He could swear the stuffiness was getting worse.
He placed the bowl of piping chicken soap on the dresser and swept her up in an army lift. He gently placed her into bed, rearranged the pillows, and pulled the blanket over her again, and made sure the tissue box was close by.
"Here some soup." He handed the bowl to her and she grinned happily.
"Danks" She took a slurp of it and spewed it across the bed, coughing violently.
"Sorry! I didn'd mean do!" Kara cried, she got off the bed and was about to start wiping the blanket when she dizzily fell again.
"Kara, you rest, I got it." Mon-el said, he lifted her again and walked her to the couch in the living room.
"Sorry," she muttered again.
"No it's not your fault. Your sick. Just relax, watch some tv"
He went back to the room, stripped the sheets and managed to wrangle up some new blankets in the back of her closet.
"Danks for all dis. Really. You could be doing domthing more udful or fun than be with me." Kara blew her nose in a tissue when he handed her the box
"It's my pleasure. You do so much for everyone, and for me. It's not a big deal to care for you" Mon el replied
"Dupergirl does do a lot of duff for everyone," Kara said.
"And Kara Danvers does too." Mon-el said as he sat next to her "She makes me happy, she brightens the workroom everyday and tries to see the best in things. I really like her."
Kara blushed, and hid her face behind her blanket. James froze, did he just admit his crush? More importantly, one of the most dreaded scenarios of this whole conversation was that she was just being Kara. She was nice to everyone including him. He was no different than Winn or Cat to her. Okay maybe he was step up from being Cat in her eyes but still.
"I really like you doo," Kara mumbled shyly. Mon el' heart skipped a beat.
Mon-el put his arm around her to adjust the blanket, and she leaned his head on his shoulder.
Soon she fell asleep but he just sat there contently and grinned like an idiot.
"She likes me. "Mon-el thought "She said she REALLY likes me. She'll probably be sick tomorrow so I should probably bring her daffodils just to cheer up. Oh and I could rent a movie. Has she seen that ER show yet? Oh and some super hot fudge. Yeah, tomorrow's sick is gonna be great!"
————————————————————————————————-
No way had Mon-el thought that in his days of taking care of a sick Kara that he would get sick himself.
But here he was, in bed, freezing, his throat burning me nose so clogged up that everything he said was filled with ds and his hearing felt like he was underwater the whole time.
In Daxam the closest thing to this was the daily headache of a hangover from the late night parties. In all honesty he was pretty sure his parents wouldn't allow him to be sick on account of being ruler and all that.
He wished he could just have those hangovers now. Actually he wished for some water because his threat was not only burning but felt like a little porcupine was scratching it as well.
Then he heard the door bell ring.
"Mon-el can I come in?" A sweet voice that reminded Mon el of a angel in his sick state.
"Yeuhh" Mon-el managed to cough out.
Kara walked in. Pristine and near as usual in her cardigan and glasses. Her hair perfectly curl and seemed so soft. Mon el really liked the smell of her hair. Well, if he could smell. He remembered what it smelled like though. Like fresh apples. Wholesome and good like Kara.
"Jew divil women. Jour are dill tryin' do kill me" Mon-el mock glared when he was seized by another harsh sneeze making his threat burn more.
Kara simply shook her head as she started to take out a soup container from her bag.
"We don't know how colds affects Dazims" Mon-el groaned "Dis could kill me."
"I'm here to make sure that doesn't happen." Kara said as she opened the container, "So I made this for you."
Mon-el gave hr an genuine smile. This was the Kara he admired. Someone so willing to do things for others from saving the world to giving soup to him.
Mon-el eagerly grabbed the container, but another sneeze took him and he spill some of the hot soup on his sweat pants.
Mon-el barely concealed how much he wanted to scream with what he hoped was a manly grunt.
"Oh oh I'll take care of that" Kara quickly grabbed the tissues and dabbed at the spill. "I'll just give it you."
Mon-el cocked his head questioningly until he realized that she meant to spoon feed him.
He didn't understand why he felt so nervous about it. Maybe it was the way Kara looked at him as she put the warm soup in his mouth. Caring, focused only on him wth those piercing, kind grey eyes.
"Tank you" he croaked
Kara put a finger to his lips and Mon-el noticed even though most of his senses were dulled he could feel how smooth her skin was.
"Rest your voice."
"Bud I like talkging with jew. Jour indersing,” He smiled.
Kara turned away but Mon-el could see her bite her lips as the end of her lip curled into a half-smile.
Mon-el smiled to himself. He still had his charm. Plus he had meant what he said. She was interesting. She was bubbly, and entertaining. But she also wasn't afraid to tell him he was wrong. While that was infuriating and annoying, it also intrigued him. Years of being with complimentary bimbos made him forget that some girls were headstrong.
And Kara was plenty headstrong. She had personality. That personality made her seem full of life and vigor. And he wanted to have her next to him and feel that vigor. She was so..so complex. As Supergirl she seemed industrictable, almost unattainable but here right now. She was pure and genuine. He wanted all of it.
"You're interesting too," Kara replied.
With those words, Mon-el felt like he had been given the greatest compliment. She thought he was interesting! No one at home ever thought he was interesting. Pretty, hot, fun usually came up. But interesting never.
Mon-el finished his soup so Kara started arranging his blankets, and started a movie. "Hope you don't mind, but I thought you need to see the greatest movie of all time."
"Stard Ward" Mon-el guessed. Winn kept going on and on about how awesome Star Wars was. And it was. It had so much action and drama and even some of the planets were realistic for a human movie.
"No." Kara chirped, “The Princess Bride. I think you'll really like Ingio."
Mon-el shrugged and settled closer to the blonde. He felt hotter with her body heat next to him. It was tempting to move away but he didn't want to. She may be hot as hell but her prescnce was also comforting and warm and soft.
Mon-el dazedly opened his eyes to see moon light streaming through his windows and that the night sky was alight with the flashing lights of buildings.
"Whad happened?"
Kara leaned over him, her blonde hair brushing against his cheek. "You conked out during the commercials and it's eleven."
"Oh sstorry?" Mon-el murmeered
"It's fine." Kara smiled at him, "We can see it another time. You looked cute asleep." Then she paused and blushed as if she hadn't meant to say that last part.
Mon-el was too happy about that to tease her. "Jou lookd cute lasd week doo."
Kara put her hand to his forehead and smiled at him once more. "You're less hot. So you're probably be better soon. And not going to die." Kara added
"Good." Mon-el said "But I'm glad jou were here with me if I did."
"Me too." Kara whispered softly, "I better go now. But I'll stop by tomorrow."
"Okday" Mon-el waved as Kara left his room.
He settled himself to sleeping position once more, utterly beaming with happiness at spending an afternoon with Kara and being called cute by Kara. Kara, Kara, Kara. That was all he could think of. He never felt this way about a women before. Then again, he never met a women like her before.
The door cracked open and Kara scutler back in adorably. "Sorry just wanted to make sure you had all the blankets on you. Okay, good. Sorry. Go back to sleep, I'll see you tomorrow."
Mon-el managed to wave goodbye as the mild manner reporter went away, "I'll be waiting."

It’s A Luthor’s Life
Summary: Lex Luthor knows everything. Everything besides what is in Lena Luthor’s penthouse.
A/n: I should really get to the requests before I start something new... Too late, I have to right it down before I forget it.
Warning: Isolation, Assurance
Lena Luthor x Reader
Word Count: 2270
After the whole Crisis thing, Lena Luthor hasn’t gotten a break. She went from powerful CEO of L-Corp to second in command to her deranged brother of LuthorCorp. She went from ‘oh I wouldn’t know I never stood behind a man’ to standing behind the worst man possible. She has lost everything she has built towards a good name for the Luthors, ever since the New World kickstarted. It doesn’t help that her own office is invaded and even her lab infested with her brother’s personal belongings and tech. Who the hell does Lex Luthor think he is?
There is at least still one place the former CEO could go to for sanctuary. Her own penthouse. Her home, which is actually ironic due to the fact that after she ran from letting her mother drown she hasn’t stopped running since. She had tried to make it work in Metropolis, in National City yet that all came back to bite her in the ass.
The penthouse that was once empty, dull, and colorless. A place she was rarely in before, is now the place she wants to be in the most. Granted it was still empty, dull and colorless but it was at least free from the hands of the cold and dangerous would outside. She made sure it stayed that way.
Right now the safest place for Lena was in her penthouse. At the moment she was using that to her advantage, she did not want to be found. She was taking a well deserved bath with scented candles and aged wine. The fluttering lights, the warm bath and the beautiful wine was doing wonders on her mind. She could feel the weight on her shoulders disappear, that was until a deafening crash erupted in the silence of her own penthouse.
The brunette immediately dried herself off, wrapped herself tightly with a long white robe and put on some underwear. She did not need anyone to see her naked glory right now.
Every scenario the Luthor ran in her mind, did not prepare her to find a young adult. Not to mention a young adult, battered, bruised and bleeding from the obvious glass beneath them. How the “child” managed to get through the window wouldn’t have surprised her if she lived on the first floor, but she was living on the goddamn twenty-third floor.
The “odd” Luthor immediately looked to the sky as if expecting some alien creature to attack, or even kill, the groaning figure in front of her. Fifteen seconds, thirty, a minute goes by before the woman closes the broken window with a force shield.
Only then did the lively and noisy city below become muted, but the huffs and puffs amplified from the damaged stranger.
“No one can know I am here,” the stranger coughed out.
“You need a doctor.”
“I do n-” she was interrupted.
“You are bleeding out on my floor.”
“I’ve been through worse. Luthor assassinations and kidnaps from Cadmus.”
“Who are you?” ‘
“(Y/n) Luthor. CEO of L-Corp and probably paralyzed now.”
That was all the older, got. Another Earth or possibly another odd one out. That was impossible, even if this dying stranger was the product of another Lionel affair there was no L-Corp. The business woman’s thoughts were interrupted when she spotted a light blue glow in a bottle like cylinder.
Curious a Luthor will ever be, she took it from the unconscious person in front of her. Her curiosity would’ve been better if she did not press the button on the bottom or the top whichever it was. Lena screamed at the expansion of the clear glass. The curiosity did not kill the cat yet, the Luthor’s eyes shined at the hologram controls of what now seemed to be a healing chamber.
A small glance was given to the other supposed Luthor, and she was compelled to help. She first deactivated the healing chamber and opened her closet door. Like her office, she had a safe room in her home and activated the chamber in a lead-lined room. She placed the (h/c) haired in the chamber. As it sealed shut the same hologram appeared with settings, though the technology seemed to complete the setting on it’s own.
The tank slowly filled with a light blue liquid, a breathing apparatus placed on their nose and mouth When the tank was completely full, a holographic gauge appeared on the glass. The level of healing measured, and by the looks of it, it seemed as if they would be in the chamber for a while as different machines were being indicated to be needed for a faster recovery. But because the technology was not existent at the moment the recovery would take longer than it usually would but a lot faster than in medical innovations set in this time.
Lena had been checking on the mysterious stranger daily for six weeks. There was some familiarity to you. Someone she couldn’t bare to face at the moment.
What she didn’t know was that that familiarity was the truth.
In 2043, a year before the heroic sacrifice you had convinced Stephanie Olsen-Danvers to use an image inducer to change spots with her. Lena didn’t allow you to be a field agent but that’s all you wanted to be with your two older brothers, Liam and Lucas, (twins) flying around. Your powers had not yet manifested and you wanted to see if they would activate during the field, Stephanie was better at all the businesswoman stuff anyways. You got your wish, but the cost was Stephanie’s life, an assassination attempt was successful. You watched as your brothers and your parents grieved, and so long you were wearing the image inducer, Stephanie would still be wearing your face. You stayed with Dansen that night, they were sad they lost their favorite niece and they knew “you” would’ve been worse because you and Stephanie were close. There was family therapy before the funeral with Kara, Lena, Liam, Lucas, Alex, Kelly and “Stephanie”. You bursted into tears the moment the session started and refused to accept comfort. You reached up to deactivate the image inducer while mumbling the word sorry repetitively.
Gasps and sighs of relief mixed in the room.
“I’m so sorry, I co-convinced her to sw-switch places with m-me. I wanted a b-break from L-Corp and she h-helped me. I didn’t know. I didn’t know. I’m sorry. I am so sorry.”
Dansen were both furious. Alex more than Kelly. Kelly knew you didn’t know, she knows you would take it all back if you could, and that Stephanie would have felt the same guilt if you had truly died and she couldn’t have made the choice to save you. Alex argued with Kara, Lena and Kelly any chance she got, she refused to even speak to you unless they were on missions.Your brothers were torn, they were relieved you were alive but devastated Steph was gone.
Then the inevitable happened. While Superfriends went ballistic on each other another attack was made. A threat far worse than murder but genocide. A massive nuclear bomb was set to blow all of National City and neighboring counties. Alex, Brainy, J’onn and Nia set to the MedBay, Kara and Lucas under sun lamps due to Kryptonite radiation and Liam left to tell everyone of the tragic news. Liam had gotten everyone to safety when the aftershock shook, Kryptonian DNA had mutated, during this generation of Supers to absorb explosions. You and Liam were supposed to absorb it together after Kara and Lucas were infected by a Kryptonite gas in another room. But you took the blow yourself.
In the last seconds you remembered Sara’s time portal watch and used it to diffuse the bomb. Most of the explosion happened in the upper atmosphere of a different time while small chain reaction bombs reached National City. You were supposed to die, and yet here you were in your mother’s old penthouse.
Your healing was nearly complete when Lena moved to the kitchen to make herself some tea. Kara landed right outside.
“Let me guess you’re here once again to tell me not to forgive you. Or maybe that I shouldn’t work with my brother?” She had to keep up her act, it was hard but she had to.
“Not this time. I realized I made a mistake in hiding my identity from you for so long but the past is the past, and I can’t change it. Forgive me or not that’s your choice. Just like it’s your choice to work with Lex. I’m done blaming myself for your bad decisions.” The last line hit Lena like a bus.
“Then why are you here?” Lena asked emotionless.
“To tell you that from now on, you’re accountable for your own actions. If you decide to forgive me, I will be there for you. But if you continue to work with Lex... If you go through with whatever it is the two of you are planning, I will do everything in my power to stop you... just like I would any other villain.” Lena didn’t want to be the villain, she was never the villain but this is the only way.
Lena left the tea untouched and marched towards her closet. The healing liquid fully drained as your eyes shot open. You pressed on the glass to open it as Lena stood watching.
“What she is not telling you is that she saw possible outcomes in which she told you she was supergirl earlier than Lex.” You began to change settings on the chamber.
“How do you know?”
“You can say that where I’m from, we’re close. But every situation in which she tells you there was always a worse outcome. So when would it have been a good time for her to tell you?” You turned to face Lena once you clasped the chamber into pocket size.
“Before Reign became all World Killer like.”
“Ehh....” you sighed before walking towards Lena’s kitchen.
“It was the right time in our friendship for her to have told me.” She followed after.
“You end up defeating Reign without Kryptonite, but it costed your life and Kara was not willing to live a life without you.”
“Well then maybe right from the start.”
You froze and looked up from the teapot.
“What, we would be able to have worked together. A super and a Luthor. We would be unstoppable.”
“Unstoppable until you get kidnapped, and Kara reveals her identity to the world to save you. But that information would be used to target all of your friends and they will all end up dead.”
“She wouldn’t reveal her identity for me.”
“You underestimate how much you actually mean to her. And before you say you’d be better off without Kara in your life, you are so wrong. Kara, time and time again, despite keeping a big secret from you has always been your number one supporter. The sole reason you haven’t turned evil was due to the fact that Kara Danvers always had your back.”
“How can you possibly know that! You don’t know that I’ve been betrayed by everyone in my life, by the ones I love the most!”
“Well it certainly won’t be betrayal if it’s by an enemy.”
Lena glared at the true statement.
“I let her in! While she was shutting me out!” Lena’s eyes began to tear.
“There are even certain things you have to keep to yourself. But you can’t do it alone. Humans, Kryptonians even Martians, we all need someone there with us, otherwise we will be nothing. Luthors especially.”
“You’re. You’re my daughter aren’t you.” The older walked towards you.
Your eyes watered behind the red and Lena cupped your face. “I know what it’s like to lose everyone. I know what it’s like to buy into my demons. But if it’s anything you taught me, is that you can still be who you are despite what everyone thinks.”
“So I can’t tell you what to do, I mean that would just mess with the timeline.” You and Lena chuckled. “But just know that everything will be okay for you. Obviously I was born.” You flipped your hair before you sniffed again.
“Why do I get a sense that it won’t be okay for you.”
“Because I killed my own cousin, I was selfish and I convinced her to be me. Luthors just can’t seem to get a break.”
“I agree with you on that. But you are my little secret so maybe you can help me with this Lex situation.”
“Huh,” you smiled.
“What?”
“My mom always told me that she didn’t stop Lex on her own. I always thought it was with Supergirl.”
“The past and the future can be surprising.” Lena smiled. “What was your name again?”
“Uh for the sake of the timeline, you can call me Miss Luthor. I hope you also know that that means I won’t tell you anything about the future.”
“Well Miss Luthor, I hope you know that you did not do a good job of hiding who you are.” Lena smiled at the House of El logo on your shoulder. “ A Luthor’s life is always going to have trouble, unless you have the House of El with you.”
“It’s a Luthor’s life. Well our part of the Luthors.”
“So I marry Kara? Do you have any siblings? Does Lex get what he deserves?”
“I said I can’t reveal anything more about the future.”
“How could you not want to ask questions? I am a Luthor afterall.”

clone/human error (timkon)
in which Damian plays inadvertent match maker but only so Tim will stop being such an embarrassment.
--------------------
Damian’s mind had drifted off, brow furrowed and hunched in his patented thinking position. How long had he been staring at the same words? But he couldn’t stop puzzling over the odd behavior he had witnessed- a kind tone of voice shocked him out of it.
“What?”
Grayson leaned over the back of the chair and began reading the screen, “what’re you thinking about?”
“Nothing,” he responded, a gut reaction. But he soon thought better of it: Dick understood that some actions that might seem normal to other people were incomprehensible to a thirteen year old ex-assassin- no judgement if Damian asked. And he was sometimes the only one who could make sense of Tim’s actions like the time he had starting investigating the Illuminati and filled a board with red string and pictures of the Denver airport, Dick knew that it was time to feed him and put him to bed.
He cleared his throat and waited until Dick’s eyes were fixed on him expectantly before asking, “Drake, and that kryptonian clone… I don’t understand.”
“Yeah, Timmy and Conner- understand what?”
“Well,” he had to remind himself that Dick wouldn’t reprimand him for asking questions- force of habit. “Are we not supposed to acknowledge- is father-“ it was odd for him to stumble over his words, even more odd that Grayson was looking at him with a very confused expression.
“I’m missing something Damian.”
“Well,” he started impatiently, “I asked Jon about them, and he claimed that he was unaware they were in a relationship together. And Brown laughed, although it’s all very obvious… was I not supposed to mention it?”
Dick’s initial response didn’t help- he blinked listlessly before covering his hand with a guffaw. Damian’s face hardened and he quickly turned somber, “I wasn’t laughing at you Dami. It’s- well, Jon was right, they aren’t dating. What would make you say that it’s obvious?”
Now it was Damian’s turn to laugh, maybe Grayson was that obtuse. “Physical affection, pet names, dates, gifts: these are all signs of romantic partnership. You should know this better than me, Richard,” he admonished with a smirk.
“They’re just friends Damian.”
“He brought the clone as a date to the Christmas party,” he deadpanned.
“Not as a date per-say.”
“You would never invite Wallace to the Christmas party!”
“Exactly! Because- ... well-,” Damian smiled to see Dick falter for a few seconds. “Hmm,” he said finally, cupping his chin thoughtfully. “Good question,” he said finally.
“Well?” Damian prompted, impatient again.
“Well what?”
“Was it wrong of me to mention it? I’m aware father doesn’t allow meta-humans in Gotham, and they’ve somehow convinced people-“
Dick shook his head, "they aren’t together Dami.”
He sighed heavily, "Grayson, I find it hard to believe you already forgot our conversation of a few seconds ago-“
“They’re not dating."
“Well why not,” Damian exploded. He was even more confused than he had been before Grayson arrived, it didn’t make sense. At this rate he would never understand his peers, their actions were so counter intuitive. And just when he thought he might understand more than Grayson.
Dick laughed softly, "calm down Damian. If you care so much, why don’t you ask Tim? He’s coming home to pick up some things tomorrow.”
“I don’t care, only that it’s stupid,” he scowled as Dick continued to smile his amused smile, “and I will ask.”
“Good initiative Robin, tell me what you find,” Dick encouraged. Damian smirked ‘I will’.
-----------------
“What are you starring at me for, demon spawn?” Damian’s gaze had been unsettling him all night, and did even more when he just smiled softly when Bruce yelled a half hearted ‘knock it off!’
Tim was confined to the table until he finished his food, a childish punishment that was sure to frustrate him in addition to Damian’s tactics to unnerve him, which seemed to be doing their job. The perfect conditions to launch his attack. Tim mocked Bruce under his breath but continued to sit petulantly, just pushing the spinach and bits of chicken across his plate with his fork. More confusing to Damian than his relationship-not-relationship was the fact that anyone would want to date Drake when he had such an affinity for acting like a petulant child.
“Don’t you have anyone else to torture,” Drake mocked with a mean smile. Damian responded tactfully with a kind one which made succeeded in making Tim even more frustrated and unnerved. “Fuck off.”
Bruce yelled something else unintelligible and Alfred peeked his head in to give Tim and his plate an unimpressed look before ducking his head out again.
“I’m hoping,” he started finally, “that you can answer a question for me.”
“Are you the worst Robin?: yes. Now leave.”
“You and your Superboy,” he continued.
“What do you want with Conner, demon spawn,” Tim snarled. ‘Protective’ Damian noted, as if ticking off a mental checklist.
“The nature of your relationship seems to be… close.”
“Yeah Damian, it’s called friendship- I’m sure its completely foreign to you,” Tim sneered. He punctuated this with a bite of chicken that he chewed noisily, and with his mouth open.
“Colin and Jon are my friends,” he pointed out good-naturedly. “But we’re not as close as to use pet names,” Tim cocked an annoyed eyebrow, suddenly clued into the line of questioning, “and I don’t take them as dates to social functions.”
Tim was silent, staring levelly at Damian and taking little bites every so often. After about a minute of the stand-off Damian finally continued as if Tim had replied, “those types of things could be mis-construed by some people, some very rational people, into thinking that the two of you might be in a romantic relationship.”
“Very rational is objective,” Tim said, suddenly calm and reasonable as if he was suddenly engaged in a debate in class, “for example I would say killing people isn’t very rational, but to a little psychopath like yourself, it could seem normal to a point of being instinctive.”
Damian felt a tt of annoyance if only because he found it irrelevant and unnecessary that Tim would dredge up the past, “killing is no longer something I can justify. I haven’t done that in a long time.”
“I’ve never killed anyone ever.”
“We’re not talking about me,” Damian said, trying not to let his frustration bleed through.
“Right,” Tim said, with his mouthful of a dainty bite of spinach. He punctuated his words with his fork, “we’re talking about how you’re obsessed with me and my relationship- I’m not entitled to answer any of your questions.”
“I only have one,” Damian tongued the inside of his cheek, “and I haven’t even asked it yet.”
“Fine, what is it?"
“What are you planning to do about your feelings for him?”
You could’ve heard a pin drop. Tim stared at him, eyes comically wide, before he suddenly started choking on an invisible bite of food. Damian smiled to himself, watching as Tim seemed to flounder.
“What the hell are you talking about,” Tim eventually choked out.
“Surely you don’t think that people wouldn’t notice,” it was his turn to sneer. “Physical affection, pet names, extended amounts of time alone, together, gifts, all markers of a romantic relationship. And if that wasn’t enough you talk about him incessantly, call for him in times of emotional distress, prolonged stares, and a rational person might say that when someone dies, the obvious next step isn’t attempting to clone them.”
“You wouldn’t know how to interpret that behavior, let alone understand it,” Tim said, face livid at this read.
“Wouldn’t I? For example I can interpret Graysons caring actions towards me and understand it as brotherly love. Maybe you’re just saying that because your actions aren’t being interpreted or understood by the clone, and maybe you’re too afraid to voice them aloud. Or maybe you never realized it, which would be surprisingly idiotic even by your standards, or you have never let yourself acknowle-“
Damian was cut off by the loud sound of Tim’s chair scraping as he pushed it back. In a tense moment Tim considered his now empty dinner plate for a second before lobbing it at Damian’s head and storming off. It shattered behind Damian’s head and from upstairs Bruce swore loudly. He had gotten too off track with his line in questioning, Damian concluded, and then became annoyed with himself, he never got his question answered.
----------------------
“I just don’t understand why you’re pushing this unless, of course, you care about Timmy and want him to be happy because you’re his brother,” Grayson teased him. Damian didn’t feel the need to even justify that with a response.
“It’s just frustrating.”
“Frustrating why?”
“I find it insulting to Father that he would chose to entertain partnership with someone so stupid. And you too, Grayson.”
“Gee thanks,” Dick scoffed, “but I still don’t think that that’s the reason.”
“Think what you want," Damian said, combatively, “but I’m going to bed now.”
“Goodnight Dami.”
“Goodnight Richard." He ended the call and set his phone on his bedside table. He looked restlessly around the room. Of course Tim would choose to whine to Dick. The idiot had stormed off without even grabbing the files he came for in the first place and had to double back for them, more than that he broke a plate that had been in the Wayne family for generations- thoughtless. In hindsight Damian guessed he could’ve been less pointed, but he just wanted Timothy to realize how stupid he was being and hopefully push him in the right direction. It may even be a nice initiative, but as shown by tonight, Timothy was filled with so much spite he would sit in front of his dinner for an extra hour just because he didn’t like steamed spinach. It was embarrassing by proxy.
And hey- maybe if Timothy started dating Superboy he would come home even less. And maybe if Todd started dating his useless partner Roy Harper, he wouldn’t come home either…
Just as Damian was being lulled to sleep with the nice prospect, Titus, who was at the foot of Damian’s bed gave a start. He rushed to the open window, ears alert and eyes trained on something in the darkness.
“What is it Titus?” His ear twitched, but he wouldn’t move when Damian called for him again. Damian climbed out of bed and shuffled over to his pet, intent on making him settle on the bed so Damian could sleep without interruption but when he gazed into the night sky he could see two blurry shapes on the horizon. He shied away from the curtain on instinct but wasn’t very much afraid as Titus’ tail began to wag and he began to whine, the way he did when he saw someone he knew… Through the open window he could hear the latch to Tim’s balcony open and without any warning Krypto came sailing through the open window, immediately hyperactively jumping around the space between Damian and Titus. He tried to quiet the Superdog, giving him a hug to keep him still and shushing him, but it was no use- over the panting he couldn’t hear a thing. Krypto wriggled in his arms, trying to get to Titus or to Damian’s closet where he kept some dog treats but he kept a tight hold on the dog, straining his ears to catch the conversation next door, but it would be impossible to make out from in his room. And if he let Krypto go he would surely make enough noise to alert Bruce that Superboy was in the house and then it would all be over, whatever it was.
It was a dilemma, but ultimately Damian knew what he had to do, he had to keep the dog still. He spent a whole five minutes wrestling with the pup until he started whining and pulling Damian towards the open window. He tried to hold on but ultimately couldn’t as Krypto began to pull him off the ground. In a last ditch effort he grabbed the stupid cape the clone kept tied around his neck but it ripped with what seemed to be an earsplitting sound in contrast the the quiet night. Krypto went sailing out the window and crashed the glass balcony door, so eager to get to his owner. Damian face-palmed, there was nothing he could do now.
He walked to Tim’s door and pushed it open without knocking, but the sight inside gave him pause. Superboy was straddling Tim on the floor, the two of their faces only a inch apart and they only looked away when Damian announced himself to the two of them. “I hope it was worth it to bring that stupid dog.”
“He was only protecting me from the glass,” Tim stuttered pathetically.
“Whatever you say Drake, but father will see through that straight away if your boyfriend doesn’t leave before he gets up here.” That sentence was punctuated by Bruce’s feet thundering up the steps. Within a second both boy and dog had cleared and Tim was left laying in the middle of the floor when Bruce came barreling in.
“What the hell happened?” He didn’t even bother to grapple with which one of them did it, immediately and harshly yanking Damian around to face him.
“I’m sorry father, it was childish of me. I just wanted to give him a fright.”
“I thought you knew better than that Damian. I’m very disappointed in you- no patrol for a week.”
“Fine,” he said. If he sounded oddly compliant, or didn’t notice the way Tim looked after Damian as he padded off to his room, Bruce didn’t seem to notice.
------------------
The window was fixed within a week but by the time Christmas came around Todd not only knew about the incident months later, but kept bringing it up.
“-sent a drone to attack him in the middle of the night!” Dick didn’t even try to give the proper response to what Jason considered to be a very funny story, and just gave Damian a costly look. Grayson’s admonishments had hurt much more than Bruce’s and continued too. He almost wished had just told the Dick the truth in the moment, it would’ve even sounded more likely than the lie, but he didn’t for some reason. He just waited until Jason left to go get another glass of “adult eggnog” and avoided Tim’s eyes.
He honestly couldn’t tell if Tim was still preoccupied like the incident like Todd or if he just missed his boyfriend, but it soon was clear that the latter was the truth because Conner showed up a couple seconds later wearing a hideous ugly sweater, Tim didn’t look at Damian for the rest of the night. Their PDA had become more tolerable with time but Jon, who had tagged along, stuck out his tongue and mock retched when the clone pulled Tim in for a kiss under the mistletoe.
So his plan to get Tim out of the house had backfired, and now he had roped his stupid boyfriend into coming by too. Even if Todd became as annoying as Drake with his partner, Damian decided that he wouldn’t intervene in anymore romantic relationships, ever. Drake still wanted to rub his victory in Damian’s face however. When he got to his room in the evening the idiot had scrawled him a little ‘thank you’ on a holiday card. Damian put it in a box under his bed for safekeeping, but only so he would never have to look at it again.

Can you write a fic about the bay us going on a quadruple date? Dick with Wally, Jason with Roy, Tim with Kon, and Dami with Jon. I just think that would be chaotic and amazing
I’m so sorry about how long this took to write but I finally got the boost of motivation combined with a free schedule to finish it!
Ao3 Link
“This is so boring,” Superboy I complained in a mumble beside Red Robin. They were watching the empty warehouse from the rafters laying on their stomachs, waiting like they had for three nights now. The fresh Sicilan air was something more similar to Gotham’s in the warehouse bogged down by the deaths that had happened in its walls as well as the unkempt state of it all.
“It’s a stakeout, what did you expect?” Red Robin asked his partner, glancing down at the watch he had brought. “If what we heard is true, they should be on their way here with the hostages. A family of three with links to a powerful crime family in Gotham.”
“It still doesn’t make sense,” Superboy I said, shaking his head. “Why did they go after this family? From the intel you gathered, they’re from either an Australian or Puerto Rican crime family with no links to the Sicialian Mafia or any of its criminal organizations. What would our guys want with them?”
“That’s what we are here to find out,” Red Robin replied before pressing his index and middle finger to the com by his ear. “Are any of you there?”
“Orical patched us in, we’re here,” Nightwing replied in his left ear. “Flash and I are in place.”
“Superboy II and I are also in place,” Robin said.
“Are you two sure you don’t want to go back to Red Robin and my hotel?” Superboy I asked, clearly worried for the two teenage boys. “We can handle this without you.”
“I can assure you Superboy, we have fought much worse than Siciilian crime lords without backup,” Robin assured without being reassuring. The boy had definitely softened in his older teenage years, but was still as prickly as ever when his skills were hinted at being doubted. If the job weren’t so dangerous, Red Robin and Nightwing might consider their brother’s behavior adorable.
“I told you to leave this case to me but you never listen,” Red Robin mumbled.
“And I believed Superboy and I were picking a different case. It’s not my fault we didn’t realize they were connected,” Robin huffed. “Let’s just get this over with.”
“That won't be a problem,” Nightwing chimed in. “They’re here.”
“Just like you said Red Robin. There’s a family of three in the truck,” Flash said through the coms after a short whoosh of air. “Two fathers and a teenage girl. They all have bags over their head with their wrists and ankles bound, wrists in front of them.”
“Thanks Flash,” Superboy I said. “What else did you see?”
“There are four henchemn in the back of the truck guarding them. The crime lord we’ve been after is in the front with his second in command and the driver. They’re saying something about teaching them a lesson.”
“Probably referring to their family,” Red Robin explained. “We know these three are only pawns in their family's game. I doubt they would get the desired effect by killing them.”
“If they’re so important, they wouldn’t have been kidnapped at all,” Nightwing agreed. “But we could be wrong. These men could be more dangerous than we thought. We didn’t even notice all of this was the same case until we ran into each other in town.”
That was true, and Red Robin let himself consider it a moment.
He and Superboy had arrived in Palermo as Tim Drake and Conner Luther-Kent, under the guise of a vacationing billionaire couple. In reality, they had gone to Sicily chasing a case as their alter egos.
The case had seemed cut and dry enough. A small offshoot of the Sicilian Mafia had been creating drugs in a factory not far from Palermo and dealing them in Gotham. It was a next level drug that the Gotham civilians had taken to calling The Dust of Rome, as lame as it sounded, misdirecting the partners at first before Red Robin figured out the factory’s true location.
While outside of costume in town, they had run into Nightwing and Flash as Dick and Wally Grayson-West. Once in the safe confines of their hotel room, Nightwing had explained they had chased a gang of arms dealers from Gotham to Italy, and now to Sicily. It didn’t take long for them to realize they were chasing the same guy and team up.
That night while on their way to stalk the warehouse the second time for Red Robin and Superboy I, they ran into Robin and Superboy II who were the only ones there not working undercover. They had explained that they arrived in Sicily that day for the case Robin had chosen in place of the one Red Robin had taken. It was a case much simpler than the one the other four were following, just a gang stirring up too much trouble in Gotham that needed stopping, but none of them were blinded to the truth. Despite Batman and Oracle's careful checks of all three cases, they hadn’t realized they were all the same group.
There could have been more to it than they were seeing judging by the confusion it was able to cause among the three detectives, two kryptonian hybrids and speedster. Red Robin didn't pay it much thought though. As their brother said, they would burn that bridge when they crossed it (definitely not the best advice, but that was to be expected from the person who gave it).
Cutting off Red Robin’s thoughts was the opening of the warehouse doors. The comms went silent as everyone froze in their positions to listen in on the scene about to unfold.
The guards were half carrying half pushing the family of three into the middle of the wearhouse before they were roughly shoved to sit on their knees side by side. The guards each put a gun to the back of one of their heads with the last one standing at the end. The crime lord they had been chasing circled to stand in front of the family with his right hand man by his side typing away at his phone.
“Remove the hoods,” the crime lord instructed. The guards obeyed and pulled them off, tossing them to the side at the exact same time like a choreographed song and dance.
From where he sat, Red Robin couldn’t see the faces of the family. He didn’t think it was really important, but Nightwing’s sharp intake of breath told him otherwise.
“What is it,” Robin hissed in a whisper.
Before Nightwing could answer, the teenage girl threw herself into one of her father’s lap. Her sobbing voice echoed through the warehouse as she spoke in rapid, pleading spanish, too fast for Red Robin to properly translate.
The guard who had been holding a gun to her head roughly grabbed her by her red hair and pulled her back into a sitting position, shouting for her not to move. The girl continued to cry and plead, and her father who she had thrown herself over’s voice joined the rapid spanish. He wasn’t crying or pleading, instead yelling something to the guard. Red Robin was able to pick out enough to know he was yelling for the guard not to touch his daughter.
Something about the man’s voice sent off alarms in Red Robin’s head. It was familiar. Too familiar, especially when mixed with that fast paced spanish and biting tone.
“Papi,” the girl cried as she tried to go back to hiding in the safety of her father’s lap. The gun pushed against her head stopped her from moving, along with her father’s quick order.
“Mija don’t.”
“Papi, Papa, tengo miedo,” the girl blubbered through her tears, Her accent was off to Red Robin’s ears, raising another red flag. It seemed too forced, with a completely different accent being carefully covered up underneath.
“Let my husband and daughter go,” the man snapped, his accent purposely laid on thick. But Red Robin could recognize the hidden lower Gotham from a mile away in his sleep, even if these men couldn’t. “It is me you want, they have done nothing wrong!”
“You are not really in a place to be making demands Mr. Gunn,” the boss tisked.
“Pero, it’s time,” the man’s husband spoke softly. He had no thick hispanic accent like his husband and daughter, instead opting to take on an upper Gotham accent that almost reminded Red Robin of the people he worked with at galas during his daylife.
“Not like this,” Pero shook his head, chin meeting his chest.
“Papi,” the daughter whispered one last time.
Tim recognized the way the three had set it up. A question by one, followed by confermassion by the others through simply speaking in succession down the line. It wasn’t clever by any means, but for its purpose it was more than effective.
With what would be no warning from the gang member’s point of view, the three family members, who were in fact a real family but not the one they claimed to be, snapped quickly into action. Their bonds were gone in the blink of an eye with three of the gaurds’s guns now their own and said guards lying unconscious on the ground.
The husband, who was unnamed in the gangs' eyes, didn’t hesitate a second to disarm the last guard and shoot him in the knee while Pero and the daughter held the crime boss and his right hand man at gunpoint.
“This has been fun while it lasted Mr. La Rosa, but I’m afraid it ends here,” Pero said, now without the fake accent. “On your knees, now.”
The crime boss and right hand man obeyed the order and got down on their knees while the husband walked over with four pairs of cuffs of which each guard wore a matching pair on their wrists and ankles. The crime boss and right hand man were effortlessly stuck into them in the same fashion.
“In this folder is all of the proof of your trafficking that we need for you to go to prison for life,” the daughter explained, pulling out a manila folder she had pre stashed behind one of the crates close by. Her accent, just as her father’s, had slipped away into her real one. Instead of the masked lower Gotham of her father’s voice, she carried a mixture of lower Gotham and Russian that never failed to chill Red Robin with how empty and deeply emotional it managed to sound at the same time.
“When you wake up, you’ll already be behind bars for your crimes, and all those people will be free,” Pero said, before he and his daughter turned their guns around at the same time to harshly hit the men in the temple, rendering them completely unconscious.
As soon as they were under the belief that they were alone, the first father dropped his gun and cupped his daughter’s face, checking her for injuries.
“Where does it hurt?” he asked softly. His husband came over to stand beside them, gently stroking a hand through their daughter's hair.
“If doesn’t,” she reassured. “It was only a light tug, I’ve had worse.”
“It doesn’t matter if you’ve had worse,” the husband said in his original Star City dialect. “It shouldn’t have gotten that far. Next time we go undercover, try and use some of the self preservation skills we’ve taught you, yeah?”
“Yes dad,” she said, a smile clear in her voice.
“I’m impressed you didn’t shoot that guy for touching her,” Nightwing’s voice came as he dropped down from his hiding spot. The other five who had been hiding did the same, causing the family to whip around in shock.
“What are you all doing here?” Jason asked, not harsh but almost scolding.
“We should be asking you the same thing,” Red Robin said.
“We were closing a human trafficking case,” Roy explained. “Taking Scarlet on her first undercover mission.”
Nightwing looked over at Red Robin and he could practically hear the ‘I told you so’ regarding there having been more to the case.
“We have a lot to catch up on then,” Red Robin said, handing over a thick manila folder filled with all of the other six’s evidence they had collected. “Turn this in with your evidence. Not even the best lawyer money could buy can fight this. Meet us at the Rocco Forte Villa Igiea near the Permo bay when you’re done.”
~~~
“Of course you would go with the fanciest hotel you could,” Jason snorted, causing everyone to turn around. They stood in the lobby of the famous five star hotel, all now dressed in their everyday civilian clothing.
“We are a billionaire power couple, it’s what’s expected of us,” Conner shrugged, arm around Tim’s shoulders.
“So that was your cover story?” Jason asked, though it wasn’t a real question.
“It’s kind of hard to do undercover work when you’re famous,” Tim said. “I honestly expected better than Pero Gunn from you.”
“Flashing around my grandma’s name gets the job done quicker when I need to be kidnapped,” a grin tugged at Jason’s lips. “The Peter equivalent was just all Roy could pull out on the time crunch.”
“Speaking of, where is your handsome husband?” Dick asked with a slightly teasing tone.
“Dropping Sasha off at the airport. Oliver offered to babysit her, Duela, Biz and Lian while we were out of the country. We figured I could just text him the name of the restaurant when we got there,” Jason paused. “You are treating us to dinner, aren’t you? We did do your job for you after all.”
“I hate that you’re right,” Tim said with no real heat and a smile. “There's a great restaurant down the road I went to last time I was here, tell him to meet us there.”
“Great, I’m starving and all we’ve had to eat today was a salad and chicken nuggets from McDonalds.”
On the way to the restaurant and inside the waiting room, the four brothers and their partners caught up on life events they had missed out on, joking and chatting endlessly until they were seated.
“Sorry I’m late,” Roy said as he stepped up to the table. He was in his civics, in one of those trucker hats they all knew Jason barely tolerated. Dick had often joked about being surprised Jason didn’t try to go full Donna and burn all of them, but Jason always mumbled his reply that he married the man which meant he married the hats too.
“Sasha didn’t give you too much trouble at the airport?” Jason asked, leaning over to kiss him.
“Our little girl? Trouble? Never,” Roy grinned.
“Got it, so you both caused trouble together.”
“Speaking of, how have the kids been?” Dick asked. “Star City treating you nicely?”
“Weekly family hunts for corrupt capitalists and crooked businessmen that I’m free to shoot as much as I please,” Jason shrugged. “Yeah, I guess living in Green Arrow’s city has been nice so far.”
“Oh shut up you love it,” Roy said before turning to Dick, “It is nice being back in Star. The kids are loving getting to spend some quality time with my side of the family too, and Artemis has found some good work in the area. I can tell Jason, Ella and Sasha are itching for the Gotham streets though.”
“You can take the Gothemite out of Gotham but you can’t take the Gotham out of the Gothamite,” Tim nodded. “All three of them were born and bred.”
“Well Sasha was born in Russia, but basically,” Jason nodded. “I’m sure she was happy to see her favorite uncles, even if her actual favorite uncle and aunt weren’t there.”
“It would be insane if Duke and Cass ended up with the same case too,” Tim said. “It’s crazy enough all of us were working the same group without knowing it. Throw them, Steph and Chris into the mix and that would just be blatantly bad detective work on our parts.”
“Still would have been fun to have them here too though,” Jason shrugged.
“Wait a minute!” Jon’s face lit up. “Are we on a quadruple date right now?”
“Absolutely not,” Damian cut in. “I refuse to ever go on any sort of couple outing where I have to witness my brothers being disgusting with their partners.”
“No way Gremlin, this is totally a quadruple date,” Tim said. “You hating it cements that.”
“No, this is not a date, it is just a family dinner after an idiotically tangled mission,” Damian insisted.
“If it were a family dinner then Bruce, Cass, Duke and their significant other would be here too,” Dick said. “Sorry Little D, you need to face the facts. This is a quadruple date.”
“That’s an event to go in the scrap books,” Wally snorted. “Quadruple date with our out of six Wayne kids. It’d be a spectacle.”
“An event worthy of the circus,” Dick was smiling so wide his face was sure to split.
“I regret agreeing to this,” Jason said in a stage whisper to his husband. Roy chuckled while Dick squacked about Jason being on Damian’s side.
“Never a dull moment with these four,” Kon commented aside to Roy.
“Even two of them in a room is an event,” Roy agreed.
A pinched off piece of bread was tossed in Roy’s direction and he just laughed. They were surely disrupting the upper class dinners around them, but they couldn’t care less and they continued their impromptu date night.
Leap of Faith
Kara and Lena spend some much needed time together as they work on repairing their relationship. However, after Lena discovers who Kara has been seeing in her absence, she’s filled with jealousy. Despite the fact that they still have a long way to go, she realizes she’ll have to take a chance and show Kara how much she means to her. Luckily for her, Kara is thinking the exact same thing and taking a chance on her feelings for Lena.
-
The atmosphere of Lena’s office feels different. It isn’t cold with a sign that reads "By Appointment Only” hung outside her door. Yet, it isn’t warm and welcoming like it was before either. It’s like one of a friendly coworker that Kara occasionally chats with and not an office belonging to one of her best friends that she frequently visits carrying bags of food with a warm smile plastered across her face.
However, she’s here as a friend this time, not a caped hero, after what seems like an eternity, enjoying lunch with another friend. For them, this is a huge step towards repairing their relationship. Of course, they aren’t back to best friend status yet, as she knows that’ll take time. However, time isn’t an issue right now, as she is just happy to be in the same room as Lena without them arguing and screaming at each other.
They sit on opposite ends of Lena’s white couch, happily munching on their meals, which consist of fries and burgers from Big Belly Burger which Kara had insisted on bringing. The space between them feels as if they are on opposite sides of a cliff, a huge void in between them. Either hasn’t felt like taking the leap of faith over to the other side quite yet, as they are afraid they wouldn’t make it across and plummet into the dark depths below.
“So what’s new in the life of Kara Zor-El?” Lena asks before popping a fry in her mouth, enjoying the perfect combination of salt and crunch.
Using the name Zor-El now instead of Danvers feels like she’s speaking a foreign language and realizes that it’ll take some time to get used to.
“Oh, not a whole lot.”
Kara shrugs and takes a large, Kryptonian sized bite of her burger, causing a few of the excess toppings to ooze out and plop onto the paper wrapping below.
“I guess I’m seeing William,” she adds a few seconds later.
When Lena doesn’t respond, she glances over at her and notices a confused look on her face. Kara realizes that she must not have heard her correctly due to the amount of burger that was stuffed in her mouth and therefore her words came out more of a garbled mess than she realized. Although, subconsciously she probably did it on purpose as she didn’t know if she wanted to discuss the whole William situation quite yet.
“Sorry, I didn’t catch that. What did you say?”
Kara’s mind retreats from her thoughts and back to Lena. She swallows down the remainder of her burger and takes a large gulp of her drink to wash it down before fully turning her body towards her. She sighs. There was no avoiding this subject anymore.
“I’ve been hanging out with William who’s a new employee at CatCo. We’ve been on a few dates which honestly have felt more like hangouts now that I think about it. I’m still trying to figure out how I feel about him. He’s a nice guy though.”
Lena notices the way Kara seems to shrug off the fact that she’s potentially dating someone as if it’s no big deal. Which doesn’t seem quite right as usually when you’re in that type of situation it is a big deal. However, she decides not to pressure her further and opts for a typical ‘Kara/Lena conversation’ response. Well, at least before she found out about Kara’s secret and her whole world came crashing down.
“So you mean to tell me that while I was off working on Non Nocere with my evil brother, you were dating a guy and I didn’t get to hear about it?”
Lena smiles, shaking her head and pops another fry in her mouth, her eyes remaining fixed on Kara’s. It’s been too long since she’s teased Kara about something and it felt good. Maybe this was the start of their relationship returning to normal.
“Yeah, I guess so,” Kara states, smiling and lets out a small laugh. “And don’t worry, there’s nothing too exciting about him anyway so there wouldn’t have been any interesting stories to tell.”
She shrugs. It was simple. She had turned to William because she had lost Lena. However, she wasn’t going to explain to her that she did so in order to distract herself from her broken heart.
“So, does he know your secret?”
Once again Lena draws her out of her thoughts and with a hard-hitting question at that. Yes, Kara knew that would be one of the first ones she would ask her, yet she still feels the sting from it.
“No, of course not. I barely know him.”
Going on a couple of dates with someone did not equate to letting them know her deepest, darkest secret.
“Well, good,” Lena says, taking a small bite of her burger.
She was happy that Kara hadn’t told William. Hell, it took Kara three years just to tell her, and by the time that happened she already found out from her brother. Even though Kara didn’t tell him, Lena couldn’t help but feel a little jealous that William was by Kara’s side for the past few months.
“So, when are you going to see him next?”
Curiosity is definitely getting the better of her as she intends to find out more about this William and who she’s up against. She had her boxing gloves ready to go if need be.
“We’re going out for drinks tomorrow night after work. He told me there’s this new bar that just opened up that he wants to take me to.”
“Huh. It doesn’t seem like a decent place for a date night. Especially, when you’ve only been on a couple of them,” Lena blurts out before she has a chance to think it over, and her cheeks immediately turn pink.
Suddenly, there’s a shift in the atmosphere between them and it feels like old times, but with a new layer added to it. Something that has always been there, but wasn’t quite at the surface. Lena had just taken the leap of faith over the large void and landed on Kara’s side of the cliff. She still stood several feet away from her and her arms may have been flailing on the way over and she may have tumbled to the ground instead of landing gracefully on her feet like a cat, but she was on Kara’s side nevertheless.
Of course, Lena is jealous. Considering their history of longing stares and way too frequent blushing plus now bashing where her potential best friend’s partner wants to take her on a date, it couldn’t be anything else. Instead of simply replying with Oh, I don’t mind, she chooses a question and hopes that Lena can detect where this conversation is going.
“Okay, so what would be an ideal date night then for someone you’ve just started seeing?” Bright, blue eyes stare directly into green and a small, playful smile, forms across her face, thoroughly enjoying the banter they have started.
Lena quickly whips her head down and stares at the remnants of her food, playing with a fry on her plate, her mind racing and trying to decide what to say. Was Kara asking what an ideal date night, in general, would be or one that she specifically would take Kara on? Does that mean Kara likes her back? She decides to merge the two scenarios to play it safe, hoping that it really was the latter.
“A nice dinner, which of course I would pay for. That way we can have the perfect location to talk where it’s not so loud and get to share a decent meal.” She turns to fully face Kara now and sees eager blue eyes staring back at her. It takes her a few seconds before she remembers what she is talking about, as Kara’s eyes always seem to leave her speechless. “I feel like getting to know a person this way is ideal as a good majority of people enjoy food and then, in turn, it puts them at ease. However, it should be a nice place, but not over the top. I may be rich, but I’m not about to show it off to my date.”
Damn, Lena had the perfect answer. Going on a date with food is always a good option considering she is hungry most of the time and knows a meal from a nice restaurant is a million times better than any bar food. Plus, the setting is much more romantic, and the fact that she is willing to pay? Her heart is swooning and she can feel it beating faster in her chest.
“Wow, maybe you should take me on a date then. As a friend of course,” Kara adds quickly, indicating that it is platonic. (Okay, so maybe it isn’t entirely platonic, but she isn’t one hundred percent sure how Lena feels so she has to add that in just to be safe). “That way I can show William that my friend date was much more romantic than his actual one.”
They can feel the atmosphere in the room continue to change, as it grows lighter and feels more electric. The space between them on the cliff decreases as Kara takes a few steps forward.
She laughs and glances down at the discarded remains of her meal which consist of a fourth of a burger and a half container of fries that are starting to grow cold. She picks up a napkin and fidgets with it, twisting the paper and shredding it to pieces within a matter of seconds.
Kara is secretly hoping that she’ll say yes, knowing that the jealousy would probably be getting to her and she’ll want to show off to William whether it be platonic or otherwise. She’s also hoping that maybe by the end of the date they’ll realize that this really wasn’t a friend date at all, but an actual one.
“Okay, Miss Zor-El, I’ll take you on a date. Are you free this Saturday around 6pm? I’ll pick you up.”
“Yes, Miss Luthor, I am. It sounds like a date.”
Kara’s blue eyes get lost in Lena’s green ones and small smiles form on both of their faces with the accompanied blush on their cheeks.
They’re now only a few feet away from each other, as each had taken a few more tentative steps forward. However, whatever occurred on their date could be the deciding factor as to if they would close the distance between them or end up miles apart.
we’re not their heroes
Tagging: @kxnel, @supersxn, & Kara Zor-El When: August 1st, 2020 Where: Jon and Kon’s Apartment What: The Superfam falls apart at the seams; Kara needs her head checked. Warnings: None? Word Count: 4,217
KARA: Their apartment was always so full of life. The windows were lit a bright yellow, and the sound of an indignant 'hey!' followed by laughter could easily be heard from Kara's position outside. They sounded untouched, like maybe they were stealing a moment to just be brother's in the chaos that had become New York City. (Didn't they know the world was ending? Didn't they know she was losing it? And she can't stop it, she can't, she can't–)
Brothers. They both held the last name Kent, and something about it ground uncomfortably in her chest. So human, when all Kara wanted was Krypton. They were suppose to be El's, they wore her family crest, but they kept Clark's new last name. For a moment, she toyed with flying away. It's not like she needed them, right?
There was something else, something that shouldn't be there anymore. A small part that was screaming, of course she needed them. Of course they were family. Of course she loved them, and was proud of them, and–
It won, just a little. It gained ground where other thoughts had failed, and she found herself standing in their living room in an instant. Long gone was her suit of red and blue, replaced with a dark black, her crest but a shadow of red just above her heart. "Hey, boys. Having fun?"
KON: The night, for once, actually felt kind of normal. No work, no robberies, no multi-dimensional baddies and, surprisingly, no Cassie pulling the two brothers away from each other. He had missed it.
(Not that Kon didn’t love the nights the three of them spent together, a movie of Jon’s choice playing while the two lovebirds cuddled on the couch, much to Jon’s dismay.)
But with Cassie moving in Conner felt like he needed a day just to be with his brother and so he had wrangled him into helping rearrange and repaint his bedroom as a surprise for his girlfriend with the promise of burgers, pizza, and the alien ale that tasted like pomegranates he usually had stocked in the fridge. The day had been good. Great, even, and Kon threw his head back in a full bellied laugh as he watched Jon try and fit the abomination he called a ‘pizza ball’ into his mouth.
“Get that away from me,” he chided, pushing at his brother as his head shook. “you’re disgus-Kara?”
He sat up straight, his brows furrowed in confusion as he slapped at the back of Jon’s head to get him to look at the woman standing in their living room.
“I guess, Jon’s gone and ruined a perfectly good meat-lovers. What’s, ah- with the suit? You doing some secret spy stuff without us?”
JON: There had been a few hiccups with the new living situation, naturally, but all and all it wasn't bad. He knew what he was getting into when he had moved in with Kon to begin with. They made it work and Jon was grateful for his brother actually making an effort to hang out with him outside of his the time the three of them spent together. There was always that lingering sense of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Jon had come to this universe and knew no one, had no one who knew him. He had to build his life from the ground up and it wasn't the same. It'd never be the same, but it had become a new normal. One he had become content with.
The new normal included trying to annoy Conner as much as possible, pushing his attempt of several slices of pizza smooshed into a ball at his brother. "Try it!" He said through a mouthful and swallowed, laughing at the disgusted look on the older man's face. He went to grab some napkins, letting out a noise of annoyance when his head was hit. "Quit it!" He shoved back at Conner, looking over and faltering when he saw Kara. Something just felt...off. He didn't like it. "Hey, Kara." There was an attempt at keeping the wariness out of his tone, but Jon wasn't sure he was doing such a good job at it.
"Stealth mode?" Jon attempted to joke, his grin more of a grimace. He wasn't sure what it was that was rubbing him wrong about this, but it was insistent. "You know we love to be included. What's goin' on?"
"Mm, no, not really." Kara stepped further into the apartment, angling herself to face the two of them, now up with their attention on her. Kon looked confused, and Jon looked wary. He always had been smart, for all his jokes and memes. They both were. She'd know just how smart before the night was over.
"I'm not all that interested in stealth right now. In fact, I'm not all that interested in hiding at all." She picked at a loose string on their couch (they really needed a new one), and shrugged a shoulder; if she looked uninterested, it was an act. "Clark was the first one to wear our primary colors, to plaster our family crest on his chest for the world to idolize and hate all at the same time.
"We've been hiding behind it ever since, and I'm tired of it." She looked up. 'Our,' she said. They looked so much like Clark. And Kon, there was more Luthor in him than he knew. The curve of his nose, the angle of his eyebrows. She had to find the El, she had to. "I talked with Magneto tonight. He had a...proposition, one I'd like to extend to the both of you."
KON: She seemed.. off, he guessed would be the most succinct way to put it. Almost cold, certainly less of her usual sunshine and more thunderclouds. Ominous with a hint of something darker flickering just behind her cool demeanor that Kon didn't like. Suddenly, as his eyes narrowed, following Kara's fluid movements through their apartment, Kon felt like he was standing on the edge of a precipice. The feeling of unease crackling in the air around them.
It reminded him far too much of the silence that permeated the air just before Superboy Prime had thrown him through a skyscraper and the through had him reaching an arm across the table, absent-mindedly tensing as he spared a glance at Jon.
"Yeah, we're hiding all right. All dressed in primary colors and whizzing through the goddamn sky." He rolled his eyes. He wasn't really sure what Kara was getting at. Sure, the crest was commercialized to the point that sometimes even he felt queasy just looking at it but that was the price you paid when you offered the world a symbol. It wasn't really theirs anymore.
Maybe that was the problem.
Maybe that choice should have fallen on Kara to make rather than Clark. She was the only one who looked at it and saw anything other than the laundry list of accomplishments that the four supers had racked up, after all, but this... this seemed to be more than just an offhand complaint.
"Magneto?" He snapped, his head tilting as he racked his mind for anything that would make this make sense and coming up empty. "Kara, what the fuck is going on? What is all of this about?"
JON: There was a certain sense of foreboding that overtook Jon. There was an arm reaching in front of him and he exchanged a look with his brother. It was obvious that he felt the same inkling of dread as he did. "That's the chance we take, right?" He spoke up, the words feeling hard to force out all the same. It felt like a wrong step in the opposite direction, enough tension in the air it could just snap, but he already said it. There wasn't really much backing out of it now. "We're only—" human. Except they're not. Conner and Jon may be half human unlike Kara who was full Kryptonian, but they all were just as flawed as the human race. Try as they may, even they couldn't be perfect. "...we're not always going to make the right choice, but we don't hide behind that. Behind the symbol. It humanizes us to them, does it not? I think that gives them more reason to love than hate."
Jon hoped at least.
Kara wasn't...she wasn't making sense. There had to be a reason, anything. Something, but he came up empty. "We're colluding with terrorists now?" The words were harsh and biting, but he couldn't help it. "What could he possibly have to offer that would make sense for us to join in on the slightest? The death of the human race? That's not us." He felt sick, stomach churning and heart dropping to his feet.
KARA: Her eyes darted to Jon, hands clenching in the fabric of their couch quick enough to tear, but she didn't notice. They were tense, but she just didn't notice.
"What have we ever gained from appearing human to them?" She forced herself to relax, stepping back with her arms crossed, chin lifting. She wasn't human, she had never been human. Jeremiah could shove glasses on her face and she could stumble through her day to day, but that could never erase who she was.
"They only care as long as we're helping them. And when we're not? They're yelling on street corners, demanding our signatures, or conscripting us into service." Her fingers clenched against her arms, breath pulling in fast. "And do you know what happens when they figure out who we are beneath the symbol? They come after the people we love."
Kara thought of Alex, in a tank. Bloody smiles and blackmail.
"They only love us insofar as we can serve them. We're always hiding, don't you get it?" Somewhere, she remembered maybe she didn't mind so much. Maybe she did these things because for all the world took, it also gave. It gave her a sister, and friends, and the two boys in front of her she loved so much.
But those thoughts barely took purchase, the slope ever steeper. "I'm done. I'm done trying to find a home among a people who don't want me here. I'm done pretending to be something I'm not. I'm done shoving Krypton under a rug. Magneto has offered his help, in exchange for a little help from me."
She was done, she was done, she was done, "I'm going to be destroying some landmarks tomorrow, starting with the bridges into the city. If the humans want to be afraid of us, they should really have an honest reason."
She softened, just around the edges. "I'm going to make us a home again. I'd like you there with me."
KON: His jaw tensed at her words, his teeth grinding together as he took a deep breath in an attempt to calm himself, the obvious and biting but we are human dying in his throat. He had never seen Kara like this and the longer she lingered in their apartment the more confused Kon got.
Had something happened? Had the two Superboys missed something world-changing while they had enjoyed the little bubble the apartment provided?
He opened his mouth to retort, to defend humanity from whatever this was. Her words were benign but the thinly veiled contempt sat strangely with him but before he could she was off again and Kon's mouth snapped shut.
"Serve them? Is that how you feel?" He laughed, breathless, and in disbelief at her words. He understood how callous people could be. How fruitless a constant battle for justice could get when all you were was a streak in the sky and a smile on a 'Congrats, Grad!' card but that was nothing, nothing in comparison to the knowledge that his planet, his family, his home was safe and that he did his part to keep it that way.
"So what? You want to pull a Parker and go public or something? Join a terror cell and, what, teach kindergarteners Kryptonian? Listen to yourself right now, Kara, you're talking like a fanatic."
But maybe she had a bit of a point. It wasn't like he had exactly gone out of his way to learn about Krypton. Even the few simple phrases Kara had taught him were only vaguely remembered and rarely practiced in favor of the few curses he knew, which, yeah, probably wasn't the most respectful thing but that could be solved with like, a TedTalk or something, not by doing Magneto favors. What was the endgame?
And then the other shoe dropped. Kon shook his head, the very thought of what Kara was saying causing him to shake.
"You can't. Y-you wouldn't." But, would she? There didn't seem to be any hesitation in her voice. The sentence rolling off her tongue as calmly and as nonchalant as if she had given them her coffee order.
"Any home built on bloodied soil is one I'd spit on gleefully." He spat, his hand grabbing onto the back of Jon's shirt collar in a blur and pushing him back into his seat. "I don't know if he- if he did something to you or-or-or if this is some unresolved angsty bullshit that you're going through right now but, c'mon, Kara. This isn't- you can't actually believe this is right, can you?"
JON: It was like watching a train wreck right before you and you couldn't do anything to stop it. They were human as much as they were Kryptonian. Was that something Kara despised about them? It was enough to make his stomach churn. Half-breed. That's what they were. What he had been called by the eradicator on his earth. It felt like Kara was slipping further and further away from their grasp, spouting out stuff that just didn't make sense. What had happened to her? What did they miss?
"We're not some—some servants for them, Kara." Jon forced out, looking bewildered and starting to tip towards angry. "We do it because we want to, we have an obligation to help. It's the right thing to do. Maybe you're right in the sense that they...they don't thank us enough, but what else am I supposed to do? Sit around with all this ability to help and do nothing?" From a young age his father had tried to steer him away from the hero life, tried to shelter him, but it was his mother who shook him from this false idea that Jon could somehow ignore his powers, the responsibility that would come with them.
Watching the pair go back and forth was enough to get power rippling under Jon's skin, teeth gritting and grinding together. He tried not to get too emotional, let his anxiety and confusion get the best of him. His solar flare wasn't something he could control, had almost killed people before when he was younger. He bit his tongue to keep it under control—as best he could. Maybe Jon could've done better, could've tried to learn more from his dad and from Kara. Had she always felt so alienated from this planet? From them?
Jon's blood went cold. The tension and dread in the air snapped in the moment, charging it with something else entirely. He opened his mouth and was shoved back into his seat before he could. He let out a grunt and glared. Kon was trying to protect him, he knew this, but he wasn't a child. Not anymore. He hadn't been for a long time. "You can't think it's a good idea, can you? Honestly, tell me what you plan to get out of this other than the blood of thousands of people on your hands, Kara. Not Magneto. That's all you." Maybe it was harsh, but he had to break through. Somehow, anyway he could. "All because of what, Kara? Everything can't possibly be bad? Have pushed you to this? There's all these people who do appreciate and try to make this a home for you. We're not Krypton, we never will be, and I'm sorry. I really am. You deserved a true home, but even Krypton would have it faults. Just like Earth does." Standing from his seat, Jon's eyes turned red as he looked at his cousin...his family, the threat of his heat vision there but not acted on yet. He didn't want to hurt her, never his family. "I'm not letting you put our family in the Raft because you won't give humanity a chance. Because that'd what they'd do, Kara. They'd target us if you do that. I know you don't want to do this, you can't want to do this." He wasn't entirely sure if this pushing was a good idea, but something had to make her see she was acting completely out of character—how bad an idea this was.
KARA: "Wouldn't give humanity a chance?"
Kara pivoted around until she faced the window. There was a whole city out there, lights lit behind a sea of windows like stars. "Oh, I've given humanity a chance." Her voice curled around the words, a low simmer bubbling behind them. "I've tried for years. I wore glasses and fumbled and made myself smaller and smaller. Then I did exactly like you said, Jon. All these powers and I've done nothing but help them. And how have they responded?"
She turned back towards them, hands clenched at her sides. "They waged war. They made papers and laws and nooses that just get tighter and tighter because we're not their heroes, we're their monsters. Not because we've ever tried to hurt them, but because we're different. That's all we've ever been, is different."
Rao, Kara was so tired of squeezing herself into a mold for which she was never meant.
"All I wanted was a place to call home." Her voice broke just around the edges. Cat Grant had always said to find the anger behind the anger, and Kara only had to question it for as long as it took her to remember she would never fit Earth's standard for normal. "A-and this planet just won't let me."
Her breath left in a shaky huff, and she had to remind herself to pull in another. She wanted to fly through the Earth, rip it layer from layer until it stopped hurting so much. "I shouldn't have expected you to understand. You don't have to pretend to be human. You grew up here. You know their language, their– all their references. You only know one God, you–
"You're so human." She met the glow in Jon's eyes head on, gaze shifting between him and his brother. Their actions colored them alien, but they weren't Kryptonian, either. "I'm doing this. You choose whether or not you'll be obstacles."
KON: "So they stumble, they fail and your next step is falling in league with a genocidal maniac?" The words were said in pure exasperation, his breath coming out in short puffs that might've been laughs in any other context. He watched her turn, watched her steel herself in her resolve as she looked out their window, though at what he couldn't say.
Maybe she was searching for Rao in the night sky, maybe she was sneering at the city below, maybe she was looking at her own reflection and pondering what had led her there, maybe, perhaps, she wasn't looking at much of anything at all.
Kon's jaw clenched, his throat tightened and he could feel a white hot prickle in the corner of his eyes as she continued to speak. He could hear the mix of anger and pain in her voice and while it broke his heart, while the very sound of it had him wanting to pull her and Jon, hell even Clark, into his arms to try and squeeze together the broken pieces into something that wasn't constantly on the verge of falling apart there was a larger part of him that was screaming that he needed to get away.
She was dangerous, stronger than him and Jon even if they worked together and she seemed to be holding on by a thread that was slowly unraveling right in front of them both.
"It's- it's not humanity's fault that you chose a lame alter-ego!"
His mouth snapped shut once more, his eyes narrowing as he tried to control his breathing. The last thing he wanted was for Kara to know that, in all honesty, he was scared. Terrified, even.
Because, at the end of the day, Kara was right. The registry was unconstitutional at best and the criminalization and demonization of anyone they thought as a threat. But that wasn't what most people wanted.
"Kara..." he tried, his tense posture softening enough for him to reach out toward her before her eyes landed back on them both. In an instant it seemed that the air had been sucked out of the room and he cursed Jon for his short-sightedness. He loved his brother but he was going to get them both killed.
"Sit." He ordered Jon, his tone making it clear that there would be no argument before he met Kara head on, his own eyes glowing in a hallow warning considering how dim the light pooling in his eyes looked in direct comparison to Kara's.
He could feel the heat of them even from across the table and he swallowed shakily.
"Don't you dare put the weight of your choices on our shoulders," he seethed.
He was tired, tired and heartbroken and worried sick by the blank look on Jon's face.
"You're family," he said, "and we love you. Please don't lead where we can't follow."
He glanced back down at Jon before running a hand through his hair. "Get out." He finally said. He tried to hold her gaze but found that he couldn't, his eyes dropping to the table.
JON: watched the pair in varying levels of horror and uncertainty. He knew he could be impulse, shortsighted in what the end goal could be, but his nerves were getting the best of him. His dad always said that he let his impulsive nature get the best of him, but he wanted--needed to protect them all. Protect Kara from herself, from whatever bad decision she was making despite the fact his chest felt empty and hollow, sharp words ringing in his ears.
Biting his tongue, red eyes immediately snapped to the other Kent, "I'm not a--" baby. Despite always being made to feel like one. Maybe it was the natural urge between siblings to prove yourself that was rearing its ugly head but he felt an equal amount of rage flare up in his chest for the briefest second for Conner. It didn't matter, did it? Maybe he would be to them just as bad as Clark was in their eyes. He got it all, while they got nothing, the barest hints of scraps and finally Kara had enough of it, enough of giving and giving and getting nothing in return from the world.
All expression was wiped from Jon's face, eyes dimming back to their normal shade of blue and he sat heavily on the couch. His arms loosely crossed over his chest, eyes flickering back over to Kara, or the image of her that he didn't recognize. The image that could've been there all along, but they had chosen not to see. "After all, how can we bear the brunt of those decisions being half breeds?" The snide comment was out before Jon could stop it, hurt feelings bubbling to the surface and boiling over like an unwatched pot. "Are we family? We're so human. Did you mean any of what you would say? Did you--" He lets out a harsh breath and swallows hard, shaking his head. He didn't want to know.
"You heard him. Leave."
KARA: It was almost enough to make her stall. She thought again of a cliff, of her hands digging into loose gravel and failing, slipping, falling. Her family meant so much to her. How it felt to see her crest on a new generation was indescribable.
Magneto had told her she would be forging herself a new home, that he would help. And Kara had imagined she would do so with family. For all the anger curling and twisting under her skin, she'd wanted Jon and Kon to stand with her. She'd wanted them to understand. A victory could feel hollow and empty. She could stand joyless in the aftermath.
But they stood defiant and the thoughts slipped away. Something seemed to tear as they did. Whatever reservations held before shattered, the small voice screaming stop muted like a hand had been slapped over her mouth. Leave, leave, leave. Her breath caught and dragged and if she'd been trying before, she couldn't. Not anymore.
They didn't want the crest, they didn't deserve it. Her eyes dimmed to cool blue, but red snaked through her veins, a sharp, eery glow. "It's not your blood. It's your choice."
She took a step back, trying to breathe around something the turmoil in her mind wouldn't let her feel. "Just stay out of my way."
And just as quickly as she came, she left.
Birthday Surprises
So this is by far my longest yet, at 2,095 words. I hope everyone likes it, it wasn’t requested but I wrote it for Lena’s birthday which is apparently today (according to the content on my dash lol).
With her cape rustling behind her, Kara walked over to Winn, practically buzzing. “Hey Winn, can I call in a favor?” With his confirmation, she plopped into the chair next to him, grin splitting her face.
--------------------
The only noise in the quiet office was the clacking of her keyboard. Lena sighed, running her hands over her hair before sending the email she had written to her business partners in Hong Kong. Moving to the alcohol cabinet, she poured herself a glass of wine, absently staring at her desk. A bright trill broke the silence and Lena retrieved her phone from near her laptop.
A picture of Kara with walrus chopstick teeth lit up her phone, along with a message from her. She smiled before opening her phone and reading the message.
Hey Lee! Game Night tomorrow at 7!
Checking her calendar, she saw that tomorrow was also her birthday. She grimaced at the thought but decided it was better to spend it with her best friend than working all night.
Sounds good, Kara. Would you like me to bring anything?
Just your cute ass
Brows up near her hairline, she reread the message, another one coming in right after.
That was Alex
Not that you don’t have a cute ass
Not that I was looking though- I would never.
Lena chuckled, amused that Kara was able to trip over her own words when texting.
I’ll be there, darling. Smiling, she packed up and left the office, telling Jess to go home on her way out. Maybe for once her birthday wouldn’t be so bad.
------------
Lena dropped her purse onto her office couch, pausing as she saw a plain brown bag on her desk. She slowly walked over to it, opening it carefully in case there was a device in it. She wouldn’t put it past her brother to leave her a bomb on her birthday. In fact, she’d be surprised if he didn’t.
Taking a deep breath, she looked inside. Instead of a bomb, there was a white box with a blue ribbon tying it closed and a coffee cup next to it. Pulling out the card that rested on top, she opened it, breaking into a smile as she read the scrawled handwriting.
“Hey Lee, I happened to be in Paris this morning so figured I’d get you something. I won’t be able to come by for lunch but I will see you tonight. Have a great day!
- Kara”
Curious, she pulled out the box and cup. Untying the ribbon, she found some fresh madeleines sitting on a plush cloth. She pulled one out and took a bite, letting out a gentle moan at the taste. They were light and airy and the label marked them as the ones from the little cafe she had told Kara about. She finished the small pastry before grabbing the cup and taking a drink from it, the label matching the box’s. She smiled, grateful that Kara had gone out of her way to get these.
--------------
“Aleeex,” Kara whined, attitude not lining up with her Supergirl persona. She spun on the wheely chair in her sister’s lab, too nervous to stay still. “What if she doesn’t like them?”
Sighing, Alex pinched the bridge of her nose and took off her glasses. She grabbed Kara by the shoulders, stopping her from spinning. “Kara, stopping stressing on it. She’s gonna love them.”
“Ye- yeah, you’re right. I’m sure she’ll lo-” before Kara could launch into a rant, her phone went off, a text from the very woman.
So, a little birdy left something on my desk.
Kara smiled at the message, putting her hand on Alex’s forehead, keeping her from shaking her again.
Thank you, Kar. I love them.
“Well?” Alex huffed, wanting to see what the dark haired CEO was saying.
“She said she loved them!” Kara beamed, bouncing on the creaking stool.
I’m glad you do, Lee. Sorry I can’t make it to lunch today.
That’s alright, we can go to it some other time.
But we were going to try that new Italian place. Kara pouted after sending that one, sad that her surprise was going to interfere with her lunch plans with Lena.
We can go next week, yeah?
Still pouting, Kara texted back while still ignoring Alex. Ok, I’m holding you to that though!
Of course, darling. I have a board meeting so I will see you tonight
Have fun!
“Well?” At her sister’s demanding tone, Kara grinned up at her, shoving the phone in Alex’s face.
“She said she loved them!” Kara shouted, doing a quick spin on the chair.
“She also called you ‘darling’.” Alex wagged her eyebrows at the Kryptonian puppy in front of her, laughing as Kara’s ears turned red and she sputtered for a response.
-----------------
Kara gently landed on her balcony, a deep blue box in her hands. She set it on the counter, looking at the German writing before removing the cardboard. A white cake with deep green ivy and “Happy Birthday Lena” in fancy writing on top in a lighter shade. Satisfied, she put the cover back on and moved it to the spare bedroom before placing the ice cream in the freezer.
Looking at the clock, she realized she had 15 minutes before the Superfriends arrived. Using a burst of superspeed, Kara quickly cleaned up the apartment, finishing right as there was a knock on the door. She fixed her hair and opened the door, revealing Winn and James, the latter holding a bottle of wine.
“I have to run and get something really fast guys, can you hold down the fort till I’m back?” Kara looked at her phone, checking the time Lena will be there.
“Of course, is everything okay?” James asked, a concerned look on his face.
“Yea, I should be back soon. Lena said she’d be a little late so I should be back before she gets here.” She thanked the boys before flying out the window.
-------------
Kara silently landed in a side alley, changing before stepping out. She was on a side road in Britain, a short walk from the shop she was looking for. Stepping through the jewelers doors, she walked to the counter. An older man quickly appeared from the backroom, smiling at her.
“What can I do for you dear?” He asked, light blue eyes trained on her.
“I’m here to pick up an item.”
“What’s the name?” He grabbed a notepad before turning back to her.
“Kara Danvers.” Nodding, he disappeared into the backroom again. She looked around the little shop, admiring the different jewelry on display.
“Is this it?” The older man appeared in front of her with a sleek black box, opening it so she could check.
“Oh wow,” Kara breathed, gently touching the cool metal. “It’s beautiful, thank you.”
“No problem.” After a quick exchange, she was on her way, black box tucked away.
------------
She landed back in her living room before smiling at her friends. “I’m back!” She goes into the kitchen as Alex follows her.
“Well?” Alex asked, breathless from anticipation. Kara opened the box, smiling as Alex softly gasped. “It’s so pretty, Kar. She’ll love it.”
Before Kara could respond, the doorbell rang. She called to the others that she’d get it, handing the box to Alex so she could move it to the spare room with the cake.
Kara bounced to the door, swinging it wide open to reveal her best friend. “Hey Kara, sorry I’m late. I had to deal with that meeting.”
“That’s okay.” Kara reassured, pulling the woman into a tight hug. As they entered the living room Kara clapped her hands, getting everyone’s attention. “Alright people! You’re all going down!” Kara grinned, sitting with Lena at the couch as the boys booed.
----------
After cleaning and almost everyone was gone, Lena was getting ready to leave. Kara wrung her hands together, nervous for what was to come. “Hey Lee?” Kara paused as those bright green eyes stared at her. “Can you stay a little longer?”
Lena set back down her purse, turning the the nervous blond in front of her. “Yeah sure. Is everything okay?”
“Y-yeah! Everything’s great. I- uh, I actually wanted to give you something,” she paused to grab a scarf that was sitting on the couch before stepping up to Lena. She held up the scarf, smiling. “It’s a surprise though.” Lena shook her head as she turned her back to Kara, indicating for Kara to blindfold her.
With her vision blocked, all she could hear was Kara leave before coming back and setting something down. She still didn’t remove the makeshift blindfold as Kara stepped up in front of her and began to talk.
“So I had called in a favor yesterday to figure out something. And I wanted to make it special so I went to Paris and Germany and Britain, because you’re so important to me and-” Lena cut Kara off as she reached out for the bubbly blond.
“Kar, I love when you ramble but you’re making me nervous,” Lena murmured, clasping Kara’s hands. The blond laughed nervously before removing the blindfold, letting Lena’s eyes adjust. “Now, what was it you wanted to make so special?”
“Well I realized the other day that I didn't know when your birthday was,” seeing Lena stiffen, Kara rushed to continue. “Which is totally fine! I understand- kind of. But the point is, you’re so amazing and I wanted to show you that. So I cancelled our lunch,” Lena raised an eyebrow at that, “I went to Paris this morning for your breakfast.”
Kara gently grasped Lena’s shoulders to turn her around, revealing the cake now sitting on the counter. “I went to this amazing cake place in Germany to get the best cake ever,” Kara gently steered Lena closer to the cake, admiring the baker’s work. “It’s red velvet with a buttercream frosting.”
Kara walked around her to grab the black box, now tied with a green ribbon. “Then I went to Britain and talked to this cute old man who helped me make this for you.” Kara gently handed the box to Lena, clasping her hands in front of her nervously.
Lena barely breathed as she gently untied the ribbon, letting it drop before opening the box. Inside, nestled on black velvet, sat a bright green stone linked to a shimmering silver braided chain. She admired the craftsmanship through teary vision.
“The chain is metal from the pod I used to get here,” Kara said quietly. “The stone is Kryptonite.” At that Lena snapped her head up to look at Kara.
“Are you nuts? This could hurt you!” Lena exclaimed, getting ready to move away.
“It can’t though,” Kara gently grabbed Lena’s forearm, stopping her from moving. “Alex made it to where it can’t.”
“Oh.” Lena’s brow furrowed in contemplation, thinking back to what Kara said. “So you just gave a random man the metal and what? A design and just trusted him with it?”
“Well,” Kara scratched the back of her neck, thinking back to the older man. “It’s a long story but he’s not exactly human. I saved him a while back and helped him settle down in the UK. The people from his planet are good with metal and jewels so he wanted to help me make it, to repay me for helping him.”
“Also,” Kara continued, crinkle forming. “None of the others knew about this, other than Alex and that was because I was worried you wouldn’t like it. I mean, you didn’t tell me about your birthday so I thought, ‘maybe I’m crossing a line’ ya know? Just going and figuring out when your birthday is. Cause what if you were upset with me and-”
“Kara,” Lena interrupted, laugh coloring her voice. “Thank you. Though I have to ask, how did you figure out when my birthday is?”
“I can’t answer that one, I promised the person because “She’ll murder me if she found out, Kara!”” At the interpretation Kara raised her voice to a higher pitch in a mocking way. Kara held out a hand for the necklace, taking it and moving behind Lena, brushing the dark hair away in order to clasp the necklace around her neck. She moved back in front of Lena, admiring the way it brought out her eyes.
Lena smiled up at Kara before pulling her into a hug, thanking the blond kryptonian. Internally Kara sighed, maybe one day she’d tell Lena she loved her. But for now, this was just fine.
Adjusting
Pairing: Castor Nax x Nicole Blake
Word count: 1.1k
Summary: Nic is still adjusting to Castor, and Castor is adjusting to his new life
A/N: This is my new f/o!!! My OC, Castor, and I immediately wanted to write for him. I’m stilling figuring out his personality and the ship in general, but writing will help with that
Nic pulled the coffee table closer to the couch and sat criss cross on it, her feet tucked under her legs. She faced Castor who sat on the other side of the couch, already digging into the Chinese takeout she had ordered for dinner. It had only been a week since he landed on earth and Nic took him in, and it was still an adjustment on both parts: Nic was getting used to living with someone, and Castor was getting used to earth. She cleared her throat, getting his attention.
“Since you’re going to be living on earth, you need a name.” She said simply.
He gave her a small glare. “I have a name.”
“One that doesn’t exactly scream ‘human’!” She told him. Nic opened the book and started looking through the pages for a name. “Here’s one! How about Zachary?” He shook his head, stuffing an egg roll into his mouth. Nic sighed, flipping to another page. “Oh, Adam maybe?”
He shook his head again. “No.” He said through his mouthful of food.
She huffed. “Archibald?” Castor looked up at her, scrunching his nose up in disgust. “Okay…” Nic took in a sharp breath. “Not that one.”
Castor swallowed his food and stared at her. “Human names are so… weird.”
“I could say the same about Kryptonian ones, Castor Nax.” Nic teased lightly. She took a bite of her own egg roll. “Besides, my name is Nicole and you don’t seem to have a problem with it.”
“I want that one. Can I have it too?” He asked quickly.
Nic snorted. “That’s my name, we can’t have the same name. Plus it’s a girl’s name.”
His shoulders fell and he went back to eating. “Why can’t I just keep my name?”
“I mean you can… but it’s just an odd name.”
He quickly snatched the book from her hands and opened to a random page. “Are you telling me Castor is more odd than…” he squinted at the page, “Mich-eel?”
She gently took the book back from him, trying to hold back her own laughter. “It’s pronounced Michael—”
“Whatever,” he scoffed, taking a big forkful of lo mein and stuffing it in his mouth.
“—and it’s a very common first name. But if you want to… you can keep Castor.” She said, picking up her glass of water to drink.
“I’m keeping it,” he announced, shoving more food into his mouth.
“Okay well now we need to find you a human last name, because Nax? I don’t think anyone has that last name on earth.”
“Well what are some examples? Are they as weird as human first names?” He asked.
Nic took in a sharp breath. “Some are… but others are more normal like Ramerez or Johnson or Smith.”
“That one,” Castor said, taking a large sip of water. “I want that one.”
“W-which one?” Nic asked him. She ran a hand through her hair.
“Smith. I’ll be Castor Smith.”
“Well… Smith is a pretty common last name.”
“Perfect!” He grinned widely. “No one will suspect anything then!”
She stared at him for a moment. “Okay next we need to work on making sure you aren’t suspicious. And that includes getting you new clothes.”
“What’s wrong with the ones I’m wearing?” He looked down at the tattered brown flannel and worn jeans. “You gave them to me.”
“I know but you need more than one pair of clothes. Plus those are a little… small on you.” She said, trying her hardest not to stare at his chest. She looked down at the container of white rice in her hands. “We can go shopping tomorrow. It’ll be fun.”
He hummed amusingly. “Humans seem to have a different definition of fun. You said picking out a name for me would also be fun.”
“Well I’m a weird person if you couldn’t tell.”
“You mean like the fact that you’ll help complete strangers who crashed their ships and let them stay in your apartment?” He teased her with a small smirk.
Nic’s face reddened. “I’m just… a nice person.”
The sun eventually set, and the two went to their separate rooms. Castor’s was bare mostly, only a bed in the corner of the room with a bedside table. Nic was hoping to take him to find furniture for his room, anything he wanted really. That would have to wait for a while, though. She needed to take him clothes shopping and get groceries because she now had to shop for two people, one of which was an alien with a big appetite.
The screaming woke her up. It was always the screaming that did. She grew used to it in the last week, she just wished it didn’t have to be a new part of her nightly routine. But Nic sat up in bed, groggy and tired, reaching for her glasses. She didn’t need to pull the covers off, she always kicked them off during hot summer nights. She stood up, stretching for a moment, before heading down the hall to Castor’s room. She opened the door and found him in the same position she always did.
He sat on the edge of the bed, sweat running down his forehead and clinging his shirt to his back and chest. He held his head in his hands, fingers tightly pulling at his hair as he dug his nails into his scalp. Tears ran down his cheeks as his breath shuttered. His eyes were glued to the floor, knowing that if he closed them he’d only see the nightmare that woke him.
“Cas? Cas, it’s okay, it’s just a dream.” She said gently, walking over and sitting beside him on the bed. “I’m here.” She put a hand on his back and rubbed comfortingly.
Castor brushed off her arm, pulling his head from his hands to look at her. He wiped his cheeks with the back of his hand. “I appreciate your compassion, Nicole, but I… I don’t need your comfort.” He looked down at his hands. “You wouldn’t understand.” He mumbled.
Nic sighed through her nose and placed her hands in her lap. She felt so bad for him. He was stranded on this planet, his home destroyed and family gone. “You’re right.” She told him. “I don’t understand what you’re going through. But believe me, I’ve lost enough people in my life to know that grief isn’t something you carry on your own. And… if you ever need to talk, even if it’s just for me to listen… I’m always here.” She reached over and gently gave his forearm a reassuring squeeze before standing up and heading to leave.
She lingered in the doorway for a moment and watched Castor slowly lay back down on the bed, facing the wall. She sighed one last time, then closed the door to his room and headed back down the hall to her own.
